This thread is for commenting on your feeling about Les Paul's place in Rock n Roll history or expressing your condolences. If you don't believe it is on topic.....well just go to the next thread you think is.

They were deleted as off topic as should this one.

I hope not, I'd rather HAMB members post stuff about traditional hot rods and customs. I can catch the news myself. Digg.com and reddit.com are your friends if you want current events.

    zman,

The HAMB was originally set up for traditional Hot Rodders and some would like it to stay that way. I would think it would include things of interest to traditional Hot Rodders. Michael Jackson's death....No. Les Paul's death....Yes

People ****in kill me. Hot Rods and music go together like draft beer and draft beer ****s. They go hand and hand. I think he [Les Paul] more than deserves a main thread on the HAMB. Father of rock n roll.....could be. The electric guitar is here thanks to him, along with a TON of effects....and just as big as the electric guitar invention, he invented multi track recording. So, anything you listen to post early 50's, you can thank Mr. Paul for the sound quality and layers of vocals and instruments. I'll go back to reading threads about bogus barn finds now. I apologize for adding to this ******** O/T thread about someone that isn't worth your time. RIP Les Paul...you were a genious and as top notch a musician as they come.

You're way late with this. It has been said over and over, and by the boss his self, this isn't a kulture or lifestyle site. It's about the cars.

You new guys slay me. Try as you will the last 10 years or so has shaped this place to what it is, you guys come in here and think you can change it.

I AM a traditional Hot Rodder and have been for over 40 years. But I am not narrow minded enough to not accept other interesting cars. The HAMB was changed long before I signed up and I doubt if Ryan is going to change it back to the way you would like it. He has too many members to lose. When I log on and start looking at topics I don't say to myself it shouldn't be there. I simply look to the next one. Try It.

Doesn't matter the length of membership on here, everybody should be able to contribute?
    You negative guys slay me...
Don't like a thread? Antagonize til the thread gets shut down?

I like Paul's hot rod nature in having invented resonating guitar picks/plectrums to speed up the strings vibration. That's akin to variable timing while in motion.

Anyone who has never seen video of Les Paul there is plenty on youtube from his fifties TV programs when he was without equal. It will be worth your time. I wish I had the knowledge to link it. It will bring back fond memories for some of you old farts.

why are we fighting about whether Les paul is on topic or not, He had one of the biggest influences on rock and roll ever, whether you think this is a lifestyle post or not, rock and roll had a huge influence on traditional hot rods, when someone dies who was this important to it, doesn't he deserve some mention? you can't seperate rods and rock and roll. I could really care less about freaky drug addicted jackson, but this is Les Paul.

Amen lostforawhile. zman will probably get it booted. But I ain't goin' nowhere. If this board ever goes back to strictly Hot Rods I am a Hot Rodder. I will stay. But some of the Muscle Car members won't have a reason to stay. There are probably almost as many '60s members now as traditional Hot Rodders, like it or not. And this hasn't happened since I joined. It was a link I received on the Muscle Cars that introduced me to the HAMB

Didn't Les Paul build a record cutting lathe for his garage studio using a Cadillac flywheel? Frank's right, Les Paul's impact/influence had a huge effect on us all whether we believe it or not. Cars & Guitars go perfectly together...just ask Jeff Beck! Is this the infamous Frank Spittle who organized all of those awesome SuperStock reunions I wish I lived close enough to attend?

Yes he did marfen. And yes, it was through one of the Super Stock threads that I was introduced to the HAMB.

I was lucky enough to see Les play live twice at the Iridium in NYC. I sat in the first seat next to the stage. Really the only way to see a show. Unreal how he played. Very inspiring. The memories will last a lifetime. RIP Les.

  23. I saw him play at a local club here in Waukesha many times when he'd come back here to visit his Mother who lived to 105!!!

Then I went to New York and watched him play at "Fat Tuesdays" on Monday nights and brought my Mom to see him as well... great concert and funny commentaries!

I'll try to post photo's I've taken of him in these two venues later... it appears my compyter is giving me some grief uploading photo's!!!
