Great job on those panels. It's nice to see the work of a patient person.

    Hey Rob,
Did you use the 88400s on your engine? If so, how did they fit?

    Butch,
Not yet, brother...I've been too damn lazy lately, and I'm also working on my Bluesmobile. Not to mention all the damn rain down here, and 100+ degree days...it's like living in hell!:D

I've got to replace the whole exhaust system anyway, so I thought I'd save it for a fall/winter project, and let my exhaust man run me some new duals after I shoehorn those manifolds in...and, I also need to add some type of Monte Carlo bar or the like to stabilize the front end, since I've cut the coils.

But, as of right at this moment in time, she's running and driving damn good!

Thanks, man....it's amazing what a 6 dollar quart of semi-gloss black Rustoleum from Wal-Mart will do!:D

I don't have any pics of it, but circa '69 to '72 one of the hottest local street cars aroiund Stoney Creek Ontario was was a rare 'one-year-only' '60 Frontenac (Canadian Mercury version of the '60 Ford Falcon) sedan delivery with all the typical gasser and Mod /Prod mods of the day - ie- econoline straight axle and front leaf springs, a roller cammed and tunnel rammed 289 with fender well headers, top loader 4 speed, 9 inch rear end with 4.57 gears, ladder bars, buzzed rear wheel openings and M&H cheater slicks. While the car was nominaly "street driven" it didn't just look like a gasser or mod/prod car, it practically ran like one too. Rumor was that car could run mid-11's at the track, simply by uncapping the headers and the guy had numerous trophys and class winner decals to back up the claims.

My floors were in pretty good shape, but I cut the trans/driveshaft tunnel out of my 83 Mustang donor car and overlayed it on the Falcon floor to move the e-brake to the middle. It actually lined up with the ribs of the Falcon floor. I suggest cutting out a donor floor of anything that looks close from a junk yard and weld it in peice by piece.

That looks awesome. When you change the tunnel like that do you use factory carpet? Or do you use something else? I would like to do that to my Falcon.

The Mustang carpet was in poor shape but I may lay it out and see if it is close enough to work. Right now I have some cheap Walmart carpet cut into pieces to fit.

Is anyone running power brakes on their Falcon? I have seen the Geo retro fit. But I dont know how I feel running a plastic reservoir under the hood. Ill cut the car, but only as a last resort. My car has factory discs up front, drum out back, manual dual res. right now.

  23. What can one say about this view?

  24. I thought about doing the donor car transmission tunnel, but didn't. I would want to keep the Falcon center console, or if it had a squared off tunnel I'd try to fit something like an early TBird console.

    Rob,
Take it from another Rob who tried the Geo Metro route (my opinion): Don't do it. Despite what some folks say, it will never be what you want, it will always feel 'spongy', and it will always make you feel as if you're about to slide into the ass-end of the car in front of you at a sudden stop. Driving in the rain is a death-wish. Plus, the proportioning valve setup is a nightmare to dial-in correctly. I tried it for 6 months on my V-8 Falcon wagon, hated it, and replaced all my brakes with a manual system, using a dual-bowl m/c from a '67 'stang, a stock Grenada prop valve with 11" disc front and drum rear.
I love driving it now! :)

The early 70's Maverick dual pot manual m/c will work.
Bolts right up to the factory holes. I just can't remember which rod to use.
Or if you have to modify the Maverick rod.
With the manual and drum brakes you do not need a proportional valve , with front disc brakes you do.

All you have to do is cut the "button" off the rod they supply with the m/c....round the tip, and it'll be the same as the stock Falcon rod....Yep, the prop valve is a must for disc up front; but, I'm using a drum/drum m/c and it works fine....;)
