That looks great! How much did you have to cut out of the dash?
That reminds me...I need to work on my coupe...hahaha:) Haven't touched it in weeks.

It's got somethin like 8" out of the dash I believe. It has CHEVROLET stamped in the middle of the top of the dash and I wanted to leave that in there so had to split the dash and cut 8" out of the middle of the bottom portion and 4" out of each side of the top portion. You can see where it's tacked back together.

On the patch. Most 80s mid size general motors roofs have the curves to fit. That is what I used on my 32. As for your steering there is corvair style, that will give you what, and older f 100 fords should be researched also. The dash looks great. We did a 51 buick dash in one of our projects. Had to cut 12 inches out of that one. A lot of work but they become a focal point of the car afterwards...John

  5. Cool, Another Chevy project. I guess I am partial to them as I have a 32 sedan and am building a 31 coupe. Yours looks pretty cool. I am interested to what you did to the door jambs. I will have to do something similar. More pics when you get em? Later

    Nice work Ben,
    I like the dash.
Whats the white car in post 18?

  7. great job Ben !!! that dash is spectacular !!!!

  8. Ben, I see in the pic there is no firewall. A friend of mine on here (Chubbie) has a Model A and used a wheelbarrow to get his firewall recess. Cheap and easy. Just an idea. Good luck.

It's true... especially after seeing so many 20's & early 30's cars chopped, when they're stock they tend to look like they've been extended.

  13. it's very cool to build something out of what was to be junk. looks very BITCHIN' so far.

  14. looookiing guuud , man !!!

  15. Ghost28 is right, I used an 84 Chev Suburban top in my 31 Pontiac coupe and it worked great. It has ribs which worked well with the rest of the car. Haven't had the car out much lately but you and I run in some of the same shows and be glad to show you what it looks like installed. Im in Kingston Springs, Tn (just on the other side of Nashville). Keep up the good work, I know the caliber of cars you and your dad build-nice!

The drawings I like. Including having all the kickups hidden inside the body, and your cross member ideas all look great. But I am not a big fan of suicide front ends. I guess I just like the front wheels more in line with the radiator shell instead of out front. I feel suicude setups are safe enough, it's just the wheel placement for me. But I am sure you will convert me...John

Yeah I wanted to get it pretty low without having to Z the frame too much in the front. I also like the way it looks with the spring mounted behind the axle on the bones which also helps with lowering it. Like they say, different strokes for different folks

I thought I would get off that other guys thread. I stand corrected there was a standard also offered iin 34. But the most notable difference was not the body but components, like the new knee action offered on the master line for 34. but back to the 35 line. It was dual year styles for that year which brought out the more streamline designs, and also offered the old style which I like better. And yes it was the mercury coupe for only the 33 year. but it was also only the 3 window that was offered if you ever see one it is about 4 inches narrower in the grille area, seating area, and trunk...John

Man you are in the garage more than I am. If you keep at this pace you will have to get another project real soon. I guess that's not a bad thing. Your car is looking mobetta each time...John
