My old Motor Club in the UK was established in 1905, that makes then 102 years old. One of the former Presidents of the club published a complete history of the club earlier this year, I have a copy, it's a fascinating read...hell, I'm even mentioned in it a couple of times. Middlesex County Automobile Club
The Outriders cc was formed in 1932, its restricted to 50 members, they have a great picnic every year, its a highlight event for me
The Slo Poks in Vancouver U.S.A. founded in 1952 is one of the oldest in the northwest. We still meet every Fri. night. Lots of Hot Rods and no women allowed! Several charter members are still active.
They all deserve props...now I want to see pix of all of their old club jackets and plaques and of course their rides and of course their rides....err betties cool tees: www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236347
I knew a bunch of the Piston Pushers. They raced at Cayuga. The clubhouse was on the right hand side of the road going in to Brantford.
The Oldest Club in the World with over 10 Million Members is <br> The Fug owe Car Club! Started in 1770 (first Car Made)
Have you guys ever made a "run-for-the-border" and hit up Burgerville USA? A friend of mine stopped by there, once. He loves "greasy spoons" and he rated that place HIGHLY. 6narow
Ak Miller and Wally Parks founded the SCTA Road Runners in 1938. The original club plaque that Wally hand painted is in the NHRA museum. They, like all clubs, went on hiatus for WW 2, but they are still going strong. Still got the plaque Ak handed me in 1961 when I joined. 1937, I stand corrected. Gotta' allow us old farts some slack for CRAFT!
our recently defunst club Bearing Burners Car Club here in MA was from 1956- which I beleive was one of the oldest out here. We just disbanded about a month ago.....
Ya see that's what I remember...my neighbors wearing their club jackets...their cars with the club plaque or water slide decals...where nowadays alot of guys and gals play "dressup" at the local cruise this was the style and these guys lived it 24/7...wasn't trying to be a smartass...these items are part of the history (that's why you see them at the Petersen and other museums) and I appreciate the history and those who helped shape it
Hey I'm not too far away from needing some myself...Mazooma not only are the pictures perfect everytime but they are there in a nanosecond...very impressive indeed...can always depend on you for a good laugh
Always at your service for a good laugh Now for some breaking news: Now back to our normally scheduled thread....
Good thing you didn't ask if the jacket still fits. That is an original 1958 water slide decal. Ak gave me a hand full when I joined. Got two of em' left. One's for the red car if the English dude ever gets it restored, and the other will be in the box when they plant me.
Here's something... Apparently there was an english car company in Yorkshire, at one time. It was called Jowett. They built something called a "Jupiter" and a "Javelin". Clubs have formed around this make of car since 1923. I think that beats just about all the other clubs mentioned. 6narow
you must not have read the entire thread or you'd know this ; My old Motor Club in the UK was established in 1905, that makes then 102 years old. One of the former Presidents of the club published a complete history of the club earlier this year Additionally since this is a Rod and Custom board neither that or yours is really relevant to most of the members here which i think means that the Outriders are still the oldest (1932)
The Outriders, for sure. 1932. Great little "shows" they've put on as well! See some cars that are exposed to daylight only once a year there....Wonderful and generous bunch of characters.
OUTRIDERS 1932 I think they take the cake... They also have a Awesome Picnic every year... good luck getting tickets...I hear this year some members didnt even get them
Don't know what your problem is, but he only asked what the oldest car club is. Nothing about "American only" or "Hot Rods". You assume too much. 6narow
Well, seeing as how this is a "Traditional Hot Rod" site ONLY, it kind of goes without saying, doesn't it? And, the original post did ask; "in the U.S."
thats frickin murder ! ! Ha Ha ps.....the Choppers here in Cleveland Ohio est 1956 still going strong, passing the torch to new younger members. lotts of the old geezers still blowing smoke.......er I mean [ air]
Some of you guys could find a drama in an empty room. The sooner you discover masturbation the better...
