Yes ... it is a SIN on a pristine body :D

But I would not consider chopping that one a SIN.
I, myself would never chop a Henry built 32 3W ... but I prefer them unchopped, unchanneled and not real modified.

They do LOOK mean chopped :)

awesome score. cant wait to see what you do with it

thats not true, sir. OSB was created in 78, but wafer board (non strand oriented) was in common use in the mid 60's. other than the fibers not running parallel down the length of the sheet, it was made by the same standards

bad ass find. those doors look pretty rough around the bottoms but nothing thats not salvage-able. i dunno about the chop...to each his own i guess. i think i would almost be tempted to leave it as a full fender car either way.

congrats...now the fun part of cleaning, inventory-ing, re-cleaning, and making a parts list on your new hot rod. good luck and good score.

Wow! Good for you! Hope we all have a chance to experience the thrill of the "find" sometime.

Good luck and let us know your plans for it. Inquiring minds want to know!

  13. damn nice find!!

  14. Great find, restore it as is and you have Joe average's hot rod from the 50's. Won't cost much to do either, just time and labor.

  15. Make sure you take the ol' gent for a ride just as soon as it's back on the road,,,it will put a smile on both your faces!

BTW,,,please don't chop an old surviver. HRP

  16. Have I got to be the first one to say it? "You suck!"
You guys look way too young to have a barn find that good,You need to sell it to one of us old farts that have been looking for 30-40 years.

Just a word about the previous owner...everytime I heard about this car I was always told the old man was an absolute ass, and couldn't be approached. Which at first did seem true...but I kept going back, trying to be as respectful as I could. Eventually, He started coming out on the porch to talk a little. Last time I was there, he invited me in for a drink. In the end , He turned out to be a pretty cool cat with whom I plan to keep in touch...

    yeh, I agree...

I’m usually all for people chopping a car or doing whatever they want…
But, if I had that 3w…there is NO WAY it would get chopped. …No way I’d take the fenders off either..

If you are the BIG guy in the middle ... you might need to reconsider the chop. I am 6 foot 2 inches myself and overweight also ( like you :) ) and I barely fit in my 32 non chopped 3W.

I also agree with this. Get as much history as possible and restore it to its 50s/60s roots.

Good for you. That's the way it should be done. The guy probably had his fill of jerks just trying to get something. Persistence and a little kindness on your part paid off. Good on you!

BTW - I wouldn't chop it, but your car, your call. Enjoy!

I think if you returned it back to how the previous owner had the car you would attract the largest crowds at shows you went too and the old man would probably be really glad he sold you the car.

It's pretty cool like it is. I say patch panels, get it running and have a ball.
