idn't it fun. keep going t&js. I got a litttle more done on my delivery finally. Mounted the guages, and rebuilt the original steering column and set it in the car. And completed the 9 inch rear, with all new brakes and seals...John

Ford. Keep up the great work!!!

  3. Well I finally got the brakes redone, and the master cylinder mounted with the pedal assem. and I decided to use the original brake pad. The steering is complete, and the driveline done. The bracing in the body is nearly complete, and I am going to the steel mill for the floor material tomorrow. I got the headlinghts figured out, and new brackets made to fit behind the original cups so that I can run small halogen bulbs from the newer cars, and still use the same lights. Turn signals will be in the headlights, and the adapter is done for those also. Ghost what wiring harness are you using?

Hey nash. I did get the reversed and relaxed spring in the car but it had clearance of about 1 inch before the u bolts would sit on the top of the axle. So I sold it and bought a reversed eye spring without the arch relaxed. Much better for my full fendered car...John

T & J did you get to adding a fish plate to the rear section where you cut the back end off of and added rail?? You gotta strengthen that up i did similar and boxed the chassis as well as added fishplating behind the junction

  8. Thank you, I was thinking of using the same one.

actually, we just did what i had posted yesterday. next weekend i gotta do some work to my own truck, but next step is boxing the frame and i'm not sure what fishplating is, but if you mean boxing the rear portion there than oh ya, absolutely we're gunna. we're took out the old engine and tranny mounts yesterday. we're gunna be aquiring a 10 bolt 8.5 posi with 3.73's probably next weekend, and we're looking to get a 383 shortblock : O hopefully the rear can handle it : X but either way, we've still got lots to do before we cross that bridge

Mink, you have a 4 door also hm? that's pretty sick, haven't really seen too many of them. you guys seen the 4 door studebaker that Toyo tires had built? Check it out... http://www.motortrend.com/auto_shows/coverage/sema/112_2008_sema_show_coverage/photo_255.html

Fish plating would be taking a rectangular piec3e of sheet metal and placing it on the in side of the rail spanning across the vertical weld you did and welding it in. it destributes the stress so that its not all on the vetical weld were it would be the likely area of fatigue seeing that it was weakened by cuting . Im not sure where your getting the 373 rear end but if you interested in one i have one in connecticut 373 posi disc rear from 98 gm let me know if you interested in it. Just lying around .

Posted these on my build thread and thought I would post some here also. Got a pattern made for the cargo flooring and cut the metal. Had to put a 6 inch bend at an angle down to the driver area and drilled some 5/8th inch holes for puddle welding the sheet steel to the sub floor braces. Every thing slid in great so I welded the rear and front sections in complete. Then on sunday, I decided to change the silver wheels to gloss black, for the look I want. Have a look ...John

  17. Ghost: your floor looks good, I just did the same thing this weekend, and that is built my floor. It was fairly easy, but I ended up having a decent size tunnel, and trans hump due to the channeling, and so the front section was a little harder. Keep up the good work!

Sorry mink. I converted my rear suspension over to triangulated 4 link, and the front suspension is 32 ford style. I don't have the old housing, or front axle any more for your measurements. your coming along nice on your car, real nice...John

I put this on another thread, but this time it's for you chevy guys.

I got a little crazy over the weekend, cause I didn't like how high the front sat on my chevy even after putting 5 inches of drop in the suspension. So I (went crazy) and sectioned my front fenders 2 3/8th inches. (NOW THAT SUCKERS LOW). doing it this way also enabled me to lower and narrow my headlight bar while using the original holes in the fender tops. and also squared up my wheel placement in relation to the front of the car. Had to do it cause I didn't see a down side ..John

You can buy the winshield seals from I and I and others that sell Steel products $90.00 OUCH gives you 3 pcs. I also bought the seal at the top of the windshield that slips into the metal groove at the top. I could NOT get the windshield in with that seal, I'd say it was the wrong one so I cut the damn thing up to get it in the car.
I actually spent about $400.00 to get that leaking windshield in the car with the new roll-up unit and the gaskets.
I will say one thing it really saved my ASS driving back from Louisville to Kansas City after the Last ever street rod nats this Aug.
PM me if you want anymore info on the details
