Ok, I got side tracked on some other projects (My shovelhead) but it's time to refocus. I wheeled the coupe so I could blow the dust off it and sweep the floor where it lives. So far I have the motor mounts done the steering just about done and most of the major body work finished. Trying to decide on front shocks and a few other details then I will tear it down and start painting the ch***is.
Wow...I missed this before, but great work. I like seeing someone take their time and do one right. Keep the progress pics coming. Thanks, Neal
Funny, I think of my cars the same way. Congrats on the find and good luck with the rest of your build! Try not to get sidetracked again...
Ahhhhhh ...... your doing a great job bringing this back to life. Seems all the kewl old cars are in Ks. (that is where I found my 46 coupe!!). Keep the progress rolling. Paco ala/ Ratty 46
Look what I scored for the Duece! An original 3 window seat with both springs. This thing still has the original paint on the bottom!
Sorry I have not updated but things have been slow on the 3w. I just got done moving and went from a 50X80 shop back to my old 24X30. Getting ready to build another shop so the cars are on the back burner.
I hadn't seen this thread until just now. It looks as if that little 3w has found a very good owner. You're doing beautiful work. Please continue to post updates.
Finally after getting moved, packing all my stuff in storage, building a new shop, and moving it all again. I am finally back to work on the coupe. Here are some pictures of what I am up to. First is a picture of the 40x40 additon I put on the back of my shop. I did all the work myself with the help of my family and freinds. Wow that is work, of course I framed sheeted and roofed in August heat. The driver side quarter panel I started to weld a patch in like I did the p*** side. Well I see I got lucky the first time as I cant keep the warp out of the D side. So I am building a new quarter. Made a poster board template, transfered to some 18ga., wheeled it a bit, ran it through my HF bead roller, and shaped the bead on mean green. Here is a few pictures of it clamped in place. This one did not turn out as good as I think I can do. I cut it short on the rear*sigh*. I might make another stab at it. On another note I fired the flathead thats in it and it runs like a top. I may use it if my other flathead is not out of the shop in time. As soon as I get this quarter panel fixed I plan to tear the ch***is down and start painting. I scored a columbia two speed at the junk yard and plan to put it under the rear. All the guts appear to be in great shape just needs a good cleaning, will replace the bearings while its appart.
I have not been very diligent with the coupe and have allowed myself to become easily side tracked. I have entertained the idea of selling or trading this car. But after hitting a snag on a recent project I found myself with the itch to work on the 3 window. Here are a couple pictures of some metal work I did on the quarter panel. This has been my hang up the whole time as I am never happy with my own work and I become frustrated. I have not had any luck with finding some replacement quarters so I decided to just do it. I am not completely satisfied with the results but are good enough to convince myself to get it going as is and I can replace them later when and if I find some new metal. I also have done some work to the steering which is finished up so on to the exhaust and pluming the brakes. I will post pictures as I progress Also attached a picture of my project that hit a snag. I think you are selling yourself short. The metal work looks good, there is always room for improvement and by telling yourself that your not happy just pushes you to do better. Keep at it man, your doing a hell of a job on that 3w.
Good to see this thread and build come back to life. Your work looks pretty good in the pictures. I'll follow along. Keep at it
Don't be too hard on yourself. The work looks really good from here. Much better than sculpting it out of bondo! Was told once..."As soon as you think that you are good enough, that is as good as you're ever going to get".
