what a blast. Down and dirty drag racing the way it used to be. We had 39 cars total, including the off topics, but just a few of those. With more traditional cars entering next year we get the track to ourselves...

OURS!!! ALL OURS !!! *evil laugh* muuuuwhhaaaahahahahaa...

The track staff is great. They know their stuff and lets us come play in their backyard, literally.

    The Mini-bikes ruled.

Cody is VERY lucky not to have gotten hurt when his pressure plate let go. He had a scatter shield but even that didnt stop a sizable chunk of from hitting him in the foot. He went on later in the day to win the Mini-bike races, so he was happy. :D

Looking forward to next year already.

Love the clean blue 'box. The Willys was a real attention getter:

Continuation of the two 55 Chevs. Love the colors, black vs. gray.
If you hit that square box on the lower right of the picture you get a larger screen, but if you go to the site in my signature you get it in hi-definition - matter of preference between old fashion low quality look and modern wow factor:

Whitewall slicks with black/white steel on the Dodge and the axle Ford has alloys on the front with steel wheels on the back. The kids these days probably think it looks funny, but it does it for me:

The track crew was awesome. Always on top of everything and helping the drivers. They said the track was green, but it had more bite than you get on the street...here's a driveshaft getting dropped on the pickup:

I found my mini bike clip.

It's blurry, it's jumpy, it'll give you a seizure. BUT still the most fun you can have with 5HP or less...

I didn't get this track guy's name, but he was on top of it. Good show, can't wait for next year. Sorry about the shaky camera hand, getting used to a new camera:

Thanks Electrodude - that mini bike video is a gas. I hope a lot more mini bikes show up next year. Of course more old tin horsepower would be nice, too. I expect it will happen.

I'm a little worried about your title for this thread. I remember the shade of Mt. St. Helens not being a good thing to be under.

I am glad that driver did not get hurt, really he should have never been allowed to run without a blowshield for his clutch setup, unless he had one and it went threw that.

    Nice pictures.

All I can say is wow! I have been to a handful of traditional shows and drag racing events this summer L.A roadster show, hitting reunion in Ca. in October, and I can honestly say that my wife and I had the greatest time; Got 13 passes with the Dodge and my wife Liz made 4, her first time ever racing, burning out, driving the Dodge; She's hooked. The atmosphere at Riverdale Raceway is a must to experience! An event in my opinion is about the people and the iron they represent. We were very impressed with the family type atmosphere, cars, new and old friends we met and saw. Thank you Alan and Mellisa, Riverdale raceway staff, and the the quality of people and cars that were present.
The reliability run on Saturday was wet but enjoyed getting the 32 dirty and spending time with friends. Hopefully next year there is a huge turn out of Billet Proof cars, and the suns out. My favorite car there was Robbies 41 Willies Coupe. Cody your tires rule; Keep up the good work. Couver kid- next year in the original Ram Charger!

Thompson SS, you are absolutely right. What gives life to an event like this is the mood of the people that show up, and Hot Rod Eruption Drags was a kick-ass good mood.

Thanks for bringing out the Dodge. Beautiful car and a great representative for early '60s Mopar. Next year should be amazing.

i agree with thompson speed shop, that was best event i have ever attended. the staff was excellent, all the people i met were great, we had probably 15 to 20 people around our camp fire saturday night and had a blast. i dont agree about robbies car though --- i think the anglia was much cooler. of course i may be a little one way about that because that ones mine. and codys car has a shield. the pieces came out through the roud inspection hole on the side which blew the cover off when it let go.

He had a scattershield. Imagine what would've happened if he didn't...

It must be my meds, but what are you talking about? I didn't post any pics of the late models...

thanks so much for coming out Mike. If you havent seen his Polara in person... its friggin PERFECT. Leather straps holding the hood down, the right wheel studs....everything... Amazing work on the car. Was very glad to see it at the track and glad you got to run until you couldnt run any more.

The smile of Liz's face once she got off the track was priceless.

The people did indeed make this event. I made more than few new friends and cant wait to get back up to the North West to hang out with ya'll. Thanks to Moe for the Canadian hospitality and food stuffs (did you declare that coming across the border? ;)). Thanks to the Riverdale Raceway staff for their laid back attitude and willingness to hold the hand of a newbie drag race promoter.

The setting was perfect. Dirt, Trees, Drag Strip and not much else. Run what ya brung. Let me tell you, thats VERY rare. In trying to set up Billetproof Drag Races you'd be amazed at the hoops one has to jump through. Lots of places wont let Billetproof style cars run. Riverdale is a rare bird. My advice is to enjoy it and take advantage of it while you can.

    Thanks again to all.
