dad and i were talking about chopping my 41 plymouth coupe today. There are little to no examples of chopped ones to be found the web so i tried doing it on my computer. I don't have photoshop (just paintbrush) but this is what i came up with...

i'm no good with this sort of thing but maybe you get the idea. I was hoping that someone a little better than me at this might be able work some magic on it? Here's an all-together one...

if not any ideas/opinion are welcome.

And a quick google search provided this chopped one. The name David Dutchy was attached to it. Anyone know him?

  11. Well it sounds like a new adventure for both you and your Dad. I rarely ever do this but here is some advice. First, if your car is the top photo, don't chop it until you have a ch***is under it and make all the doors and fenders fit correctly. Next, before you actually cut the lid get yourself a large piece of heavy paper, roll it into a Cone and tape it up so it will stay. Then cut 2" out of it horozonetly and put the top pointed piece and the much larger bottom piece back together. This will give both of you a small vision of what your getting into. Yes it will look good but don't set yourself up for tough go. Do some homework and start with the basics.

It's hard to say, the car has such great lines either way. The green example that bad apple put up is reason to not chop. You could always spend the time/money on other things for the ride (like a set of 30 spoke wires and hydros).

yeah that's my car on the top... i'm not too concerned about how hard it will be since the old man has been working steel for 30 or so years and has done chops before. Mostly I've been worried about how it will look, but that steel one looks really cool. I doubt any chop could look worse than having that five foot tall windshield...

Mild chop, otherwise it will look fat ***ed, IMO

I saw a 40 Ford coupe once that had such a mild chop that you almost could not notice in a quick glance. 99.9% of people say never chop a 40 ford coupe, but they should have seen this one :)

If you need a chop reference, there's a SICK chopped candy-apple green`40 Chrysler in HOP UP annual #8 (2007) on pages 60-63.

Dude, chop that thing and never look back.
    It'll be kick-***!

I vote for not chopped. I love the lines just the way they are.

That car will look great unchopped, with the right wheel/tire treatment, moderately lowered. 90 % will think it's chopped. Don't volunteer whether you did or not. When asked leave the question unanswered.

Brother, if I were you, which I basically am... I would build it to look as close to that all steel one as you could...
