I just went to Spokane from Seattle for the Goodguys event and it appears to me that we have a big mountain pass to go up and over and then uphill into Vantage coming from Seattle and the drive from Spokane to Vantage is all down hill...hmmmmm...

  2. That would mean we gotta drive up hill the whole time on the way back

What part of, "shut up" do you not get? OK, you can ride along with me and dribble like you do...close your mouth, there's something always coming out of it......................where's the drip cup when we need it?

I think I'm going to have to run half way to Goldendale to have the required miles on the speedo as I live about 48 or so miles North of Goldendale and I'm 80 miles and change from Vantage. That or take the senic route through Sunnyside, Othello and Moses Lake. I just checked and the route from Toppenish, through Sunnyside, Othello and Moses lake and on to Vantage is 158 miles so It looks like I'll have to go the not so senic route to keep me honest.

A usable flathead 6 has found me so after a road trip I should be on my way to having a running flathead powered roadster for next year.

There is no good reason on God's green earth to go to Goldendale:D

Oh, If I were about 35 years younger and single there would be a damned good reason to go up there but I don't think my wife would go for that now.:D

I figured out that I can take the "long" way and do it in 158 miles so I don't need to do any backtracking. Now to get my butt out in the garage and make all the pieces I have collected in the past 30 years into a vehicle that resembles the drawings in my sketch book.

True, I think I can fire up the 254 next weekend. I'll drag the chassis home as soon as I get paid for my last work trip out of town. I need a transmission or 51 passenger car late style bell housing. Or an adapter to fit a different trans to my bell housing.

Otherwise I have probably 60% of the parts in my sheds somewhere.

Other parts seem to be finding me even when I'm not looking very hard. Now to stay off Ebay for a while and stash away a bit of cash.

Good luck everyone, wish I could be there!

I have an idea on a future route that could pull people in from all over the state since it's central. Do a RAMROD (ride around Mt. Rainer on drugs-ok, not sure what the OD stands for-LOL!). Hwys 410/123/12/7/161 would be the route. Of course, it would have to be a late summer run, but you could meet at certain stopping points along the way and it's really scenic compared to I-90.
You could still do the East v. West thing by having people pick up numbered cards along the way sort of like a poker run. The side that has the most people that start and finish and show their cards determines the winner.

  15. I like the idea. I mapped the route using google maps and it comes out to be around 270 miles and six hours. You could use Amocat in Puyallup for the start and finish, with an overnight stop somewhere in Yakima, and make it a two day event.

  16. yes your planning to kick the west side ass, but you know that won't happen... lol West side !!!

There used to be but she moved away. The best reason to go up there is that I like the drive.

I may have to go another direction on the frame to put the 254 in though as the guy who has it seems to think it is worth more than I do. Somehow the price doubled in the past six months. I have an other idea if that doesn't work out but it may be time to test ride my motorized bicycle to the neighbors version of vintage tin national park next weekend.

Looks like it could make the last 11 miles of the Westside part of the run like it is.;)
