  2. QUICK UPDATE #1

We have headlight! and that's about it. Haha. Hooked up a 6 Volt Optima battery really quick to see what would work. The one headlight works high and low beam. Didn't clean any connections yet or chase the wiring. More should come to life after we do that.

Waiting on the Deluxe Brake kit from Kanter. Should be getting the wheels blasted and powder coated soon. Next on the list are some fat wide whites. Still haven't figured out why the transmission won't come out of first gear. Planning on firing it up late August early September when I get back to California on leave. Can't wait.

Very kool, from one Clipper owner to another. What model? It should be on the plate at the left of the cowl under the hood. 6 or 8cyl? I too have a 47 Clipper, a Custom Super Clipper, and a good friend has a 47 Super Clipper. Great cars. Nice sinister rake to the windshield huh? The back seats are like a fine sofa. You're gonna like everything about it.

About that 1st gear thing...overdrive on it? Look for a tan plastic knob below right of the steering column. If it's not siezed up pull it out and rock the car a bit. Might do it.

  9. UPDATE

I'm on leave right now at my dad's house in California. Been working on the Packard. Dropped the wheels off at Les Schwab to get sandblasted and powder coated. Cost $20 each with my military discount. Can you believe the local powder coating shop wanted to charge me $150 each? Crazy. Got lucky, the wheels look brand new. Ordered some 760-15 Coker Classic 3" White Walls and tubes from Coker. Saved $76.54 with my H.A.M.B. Alliance discount. Arrived in two days. Got them mounted and balanced and on the car just a little while ago. Looks good. Definitely very motivating. Next is the brake rebuild. Ordering the Master Rebuild kit from Kanter. I can't believe how much Packard stuff they've got. Motor is getting pulled and rebuilt after the brakes are done. Going to be my dad's winter project when work slows down. Anyways, here's the pics.

Man what a great story with this car. Glad it's getting some life put back in to it and very glad it's still in the family.

Wheels look awesome as does the rest of the car! Thanks for sharing.

  13. That would look good with some Caddy Sombreros, and a little lowering. Put dual exhaust on it with some Smitty's and call it good.

What a great story and very cool that you have inherited your great grandfathers car. I wish I had my GGF's 35 Pontiac

I think you'll find that with conventional opening doors is a 36 Pontiac rather than a 35 which would have suicide doors. Doesn't change the memories, just makes them accurate.
They are fine looking cars and comfortable too.
