Well last night I was going to see a freind in my 26 tudor. The air was cool and it was running RIGHT:cool:. Well I pull out on US41 and just had to play just a little so I put to the floor when it shifted from First to Second the car pulls hard and then the noise .Motor hits around 8 grand I hear the drive shaft let loose. No biggie It's late can't see thought I would fix it today go have another drive shaft cut and be on my way. Like I said it was late didn't see this :eek:So I guess I'll have to build another trans for It I'll post more pics as I pull it out.....

Drive shaft was likely too long and/or bent.

Little JB Weld and it'll be fine. :)

Really, that is some serious carnage you got there.

Nope but thanks for the input. No vib in car what so ever.I hade about 1 1/2 inch end play I built this car frame and all. Its been done for almost 2 years no problems. I just built the motor and trans. It has less than 3000 miles on it. I had the drive shaft checked with no problems straight and true and balanced..

I've seen that happen with front motor mounts.
Can you put a heavy duty bell on the transmission, like you can a Powerglide?

put a turbo 400 in there, they have an internal center support the turbo 350's do not have.

the 350 has a center support...it doesn't bolt in like the 400, either way the 400 bolt in center support wouldn't have saved it from that damage.

Just looked and J. W. Performance Transmissions makes a "Ultra Bell" Bellhousing for a Turbo 350 for around $250.00. An upgrade and cheaper than a new ******.
    Just something to think about.

It also broke in front of the tailshaft, so an upgrade to this one is probably out of the question. I imagine that a lot of the internals could be reused, but chances are there was also some "bending" on the inside.

I don't think it's supposed to go quite that high, but I don't know. I wouldn't imagine it's supposed to go that high since it kind of exploded. :D

  26. You need a new drive line shop. With the engine mounted two feet from the fire wall it will make changing the trans easy. 8000? really?
