Looks like the opening of a new bridge that opens over a river for boats to pass under.I see the tail end of a spinner in front and a mopar product coming in behind the FX Holden. They have NSW(New South Wales) plates on the cars and of course they are right hand drive and driveing on the left side of the road.

The black car on the left looks like it has black and white Victoria plates, so it could be a bridge on the Murray river, the border between vic and nsw.

Can anybody guess what this is the remains of?
(the chassis, not the guy driving.)
Will post the answer when I wake up in a few hours.

Ford V8. Wheels & water hoses would indicate pre-'49 if it were in the US, but it's RHD. Maybe a Ford Pilot? Fender braces look "industrial"; I doubt that they're original Ford unless it's some sort of truck.

Driver appears to be wearing a photoshop disguise.

It's an Allard sedan, minus the rotted body. Driver is photoshopped, complete with rapidly deteriorating body.

Possibly some sort of tractor conversion e.g. T his Alan Taylor version on a Model Y Ford or perhaps a Pattersons groundsman's tractor (pic borrowed from marts real hot rods site)[IMG]
Then again I could be totally wrong>

Isn't that the bridge in Batemans Bay on the NSW south coast? We would use near by Mogo as a Military Exercise area and I swear thats the same bridge!

It is an FX Holden from Australia. The fore runner of the famous FJ holden.
Officially produced as the 1948 Holden 48-215 by General Motors Australia. The first completly Aussie produced vehicle,(only 115 produced in the first year.) including design, construction etc. This model was produced from 1948-1952 with four door sedan and ute bodystyles (introduced 1952) making up the bulk of production numbers. Original purchase price was $1466 Aussie Dollars.
Prior to this car being produced by GMHA the company was an assembly plant for US and British GM Vehicles.

I hope this clarifies thing for you and removes some of the frustration.

There is a myth that the FX-FJ is the great Aussy car, designed in the US and rejected from possible production due to its 'Undesirability', ie too small with poor styling, we ended up being lumped with it.

It was in use up till a few years ago. I have no idea why they shut it down. I remember it from when I was a kid in the early 70's, it was old then!

Sorry, It's an Allard. A mate found it, tore the completely shagged body off, and got it running. He also has an Allard roadster in the garage.

Incidently, Billy Mays is a very handsome man. I disguised myself so I wouldn't have all his groupies chasing me.

Cymro, do you post on a Rugby forum?
