Another project I don't have time to get to yet.

 

Well heres my truck, yup a work in progress. Wouldn't have it any other way. So I just got it a few weeks ago. tranny's a wreck, front coils were cut so short the front is almost touching the ground, gonna go up alittle I think probly 3" on a 1980 cross member. That will take care of the brakes and power steering. also got a new 4 speed.

And here is the frame after a couple days of wire wheeling, rust mort and some paint

Found out that Jeep TJ stock rear coil springs will direct swap & lower the ass end of that thing about 2"+ from a guy at Billetproof want to say he was SFCC- wish I had known that when I had mine

 

Yuppers thats the one, now if I could get the pic's to work??? So the springs to use are from a cherokee right? I'm not sure that will drop the rear enough tho, I'm going with 3 in front so probly need 4-5 in rear right?

Well I got the the new front end sandblasted and painted, should have it bolted in tonight,,, will post another pic tomarrow if its in

Well I got the 73-87 frontend all bolted in except the swaybar frame brackets,,, got them off the donor frame and now just gotta drill 4 holes for the bracket to frame bolts, Ended up ordering a power steering adapter from classicparts. com which got here today and its already installed,,, pretty darned easy I gotta say,, I was gonna try to make them myself but for as cheap as they sell them it wasnt worth the trbl, maybe is I had a machine shop or even close to it but I dont so....If anyone has power steering brackets for a 230-250 non-intragated head let me know what you want for them... I need em... well everyone have a great weekend ;-)

 

Well i got some paint on, only been workin on this for a year!!!
O and I absolutely love this color, the orange pops when the sun hits it.

well I got some more done, inner and outer fenders, front valance and grill all painted and on!!

Lucky Lindy, just keep pecking away at it.
I have an associate that turned me on to the 1/2 hour per day theory (Find 30 minutes every day to do something on the project, even if it's just ordering parts). At the end of 30 days you have spent at least 15 hours on your project.

Ok guys, don't laugh. It is actually in better shape than it looks. I will be starting on it as soon as the temp outside gets below 5 million degrees. It's a 64

Ya Zack that'll make a nice ride for sure, I like those short stepsides. But it looks like the heat is here to stay for a while, lol

 

My only vehicle. 10k miles in the last 6 months.

 

Is that a work truck? looks cool, did you lower it? if so how much, I want mine to sit just like that.

 

That's definitely my work truck. I run a welding and powdercoating shop so it gets used to haul a lot of stuff.

It's lowered 4.5 inches in front and 5 inches in rear.

 

lots of great pics and stories guys! i have a question my 66 carryall has a good drivetrain .new zz4 w/turbo 400 BUT the chassis needs some changes ??? has anybody out there used one of "cpp"s {?} dropped rear crossmembers w/the trick trailing arms ?set -up looks neat but how does it ride ?should it have an air ride set-up w/ it or what ? my front is a 90 burb crossmember ,sits way too high ! any ideas guys ? thanks mike "carryallman "

11:13 pm I just stopped working on that truck and guess what, its dam near done, the cab is now all painted and back together, the driveline is at the shop gettin shortened and rebuilt hopefully it will be done tomarrow, the only thing left now is paint the bed and hook up a gas tank,,,,, holy crap its been alot of work but mostly its been fun,,,, gonna have to start lookin for the next one

Bottom picture is when I first got it too is current while I’m waiting on parts to finish the airbags. It’s 73+ front k member with 3” drop spindles and bags the rear is bagged notch and axle swap next

 

Gotta find my photos of the way it looked when I bought it about 1990.
