JEEEEZUS ! How much does a Plumber charge for a 1 Hour call out when a Guy plugs up his ****ter ? i'll bet it's more than $45.00. Arent you a plumber ?
Yes i am a Plumber and Yes it is $95 a call. But what does that have to do with it? The gnrs is not that much is it? Now i am not saying i did not LOVE the show I did!! But i have a bad back and only can go for about 3 hrs.So for me $45 is a lot. Again i had a TON of FUN. I am just talking about the $$$. I get the $45 for 2 days but give us a 1 day price. Thetudchaser Dave
What you talkin bout Willis? As a spectator the GNRS is $20.00 per person plus $9.00 parking, so that's $49.00 for one day providing you take your better half. To put a car in the Suede Palace it is $50.00 and the Regular show STARTS at $75.00 And the fact that you have a bad back, while that ****s, is irrelevant -the promoter certainly can't price things for each individuals personal needs. And as one who has put on events I can tell you that the problem with one day p***es is that you still have to pay for the venue for both days. And if the income goes down because of too many people choosing a one day option, well then the event loses money and just goes away.
My situation as well. I try not to miss this show every year. Great weather, less than an hour away along the coast on PCH. what a great drive in and of itself! That venue is perfect. I have my car blown apart for paint, hopefully there is a show next year.
As long as my car will take me there I will attend. I love the Primer Nationals. It is the best show of the year in my opinion. Reasonably priced, good venue, rgeat drive in, good people putting it on, no drama that i have seen. Just a wonderful good time. I think it really shows how uch John loves this show when he thanks each every person on the way in and the way out. I have a lot of respect for John. I hope things work out, but if they don't be sure to let us HAMBers know which show to go to and which to not.
Fair enough, but no ones posted any facts. What the real deal? If you can't say, then I vote the whole thread gets deleted. Maybe there's too much money now. That's always a problem.
John had a great vision for this show and made it work.I just wish everything would stay the same or improve Primer Nationals wise. If John starts a new show in a different place on the same weekend then the Primer Nationals will suffer for sure. A new show in a different place will probably never have the same feel that the Primer Nats has, I believe it's the location that makes the show. The State Beach in Ventura is the only other location that would come close. I consider John a personal friend and I wish him all the best. He has my support, I just hope he picks another weekend if he starts a new show.
Couldn't make the show this year, but I'll be out for the Primer Nats next year if John's involved. If he ends up putting together an alternate show, I'll support it instead. The guy knows how to throw a car show.
I hate to choose a side since I know her and i've always liked you John, but I will support your effort to save the shows. Either way,i'll be at your shows whatever they're called and wherever they are! Just let me know how to help.
Ask away my friend. I am sure you will find lots of friends on the HAMB you have never met. We will be there to show our support.
I can tell you John that you have not only my support but that of Los Boulevardos (12 cars and close to 40 people paying to get in). Hell one of our club cars won Best of Show. We will not attend the Primers if you are not involved and taken care of. We will not help promote it and we will spread the word to all the support people that roll with us. Like Eryk said after he presented our club pick award YOU HAVE OUR FULL SUPPORT!
It seems pretty easy she keeps her bag company and you get the shows...I will support you and the show and I will support her by continuing to buy her stuff for my wife! No need to take a side
Hey John this is travis. I've been stuck in san diego now for the past year, and sadly missed the show this year. Didn't realize how lucky I was to have the best show only a mile away until i'm 200 miles away! (well I did realize it back then actually!) Talk to the city and have the show at the park across from the post office on santa clara. While you couldn't charge for spectators there probably wouldnt be any rent, and you'd still get car and vendor money. It could be like the old Paso shows were - cars on the gr***, **** you could even block california street/santa clara etc. , they did it for the smaller car shows a couple years back. Good Luck and hope everything works out for you guys. TP
Its funny how you mention this Travis. I was in that park last week letting my daughter play at the playground and I was just imagening it filled with cars. The park is set up almost exactly like Paso, gazzebo and all. I had the park filled and all the surrounding streets blocked with cruising on Thompson. It would be great if John could pull it off.
good luck John hope it all works out for you. only thing i want to add is if you do decide to do your own thing could you try to make in any other weekend then labor day like the first shows were? see you around John
My apoligies to the individual guys but I barely had time to present the pe***ion to all the clubs, I am really gratefull for their surport. My intention was to discretely presure Jenny in to letting my friend John keep running the show. It´s my small way of showing my apreciation ,for all the special atention he has given all the clubs by letting us park together, and the wonderfull service he has given us over the years. His love for traditional hot rods and customs is untarnish, many atime I saw him get in arguements with the billet guys by not letting them in , when he could have taken the easy way out and given into greed and made a buck. I got to live the dark ages, when the only thing available was the Greedy Guy shows. They would stick our cars in the back forties, and charge us camping fees if we wanted to barbeque. We could not bring any outside beverages, and the going rate in the 80´s was 65 bucks a car plus 15 dollars per each individual person. We where a small minority then, and our vehicals where considerd unsafe because we wouldent run disco brakes and modern carburation. As to the cheap individual who thought 45 dollars is alot to pay for two full days of fun, buddy sell your car and stay home , then you can tell us aboat all the money you saved. As far as I am concern, this show is aboat the big freindly guy in the sombero that would walk all the way to the front gate and take care of us. Hopefully Jenny can put aside her personal feelings , and look at the bigger picture, as in any business ,good service is essential and nobody does it better than John. !Long live the Sombero Nationals!
That's why I married an Indian woman. Her own family would set her on fire if she ever hired a lawyer. After 20 years, I think she's even starting to like me, and I can put my feet up on the sofa... I think you're doing the right thing. People like me don't know the personalities or the history of how or why a show gets put on. Now that I know a lawyer is involved on the other side, I would only support a guy like you by going to the show you put on, and hoping the lawyer fails. All the best, Ricky
Thanks Miguel for bringing this to our attention with the pe***ion. Have show will follow...Turks are in full support!
They always say there is two sides to a story and I do not know Jennys side, however, Even if 10 percent of what I hear is true... I will no longer support her business!! Or anything to do with her promoting the show without John
Sorry to say this but im getting a really bad feeling that is turning into another blessing anti-blessing!
I hope they all work things out, for at least that weekend. .....BUT, "IF" you did a show on the same Labor Day weekend (I think the 3-day weekend is key) in PASO, it'd be huge. I know I miss the drive, and the town. BUT, you'll have to approach the MERCHANTS (Motel/food place owners..), and NOT the City people. Let the MERCHANTS fight that fight for you. They were pissed about not having a voice in the loss of the Paso show of Penny's, and would prolly love an opportunity to fix that. There were many talks of merchants suing the city for lost money.
i have love for both sides but personally , i don't see how the primer nationals can happen with out john , period. we love this show and have been to every one . hopfuly they can work it out
Says a lot about John as a person and the event he built when you see all the glowing responses. And to the ****er that thinks $45 for two days is high> ****, we would love to have that caliber of cars and show up in this neck of the woods. And would gladly pay double that!
