And here I am worrying about the 1/8" layer of filler in my rocker because I couldn't metalfinish out my butt welded patch panel that was sandblasted and sealed on both sides with epoxy primer....

  2. Has he posted on this thread?:D

  3. They worked because I watched all three videos and read all four pages of comments.

I didn't see the panty-hose method used. What kind of body man is he?

  5. No but he did make his own mixing board out of a cardboard box and fibreglass filler...... but alas he forgot to use it later in the video.

This guy is low tech, he doesn't use the sticky stainless steel tape we used for the cars from the used car lots I worked. This is the kind of stuff I did when I worked in the first body shop right after high school. We had a couple of sleazy low budget corner used car dealers who didn't want to pay to have to have their cars prettied up. We'd pop rivet half a home made quarter panel on over the rust and pile on the bondo and paint body from the belt line down with a contrasting color with a tape pin stripe applied to cover the paint line. The cars looked pretty decent when they left the shop but I doubt they lasted more than a month after they left the car dealers lot.

this video is way out of touch, he could of used spray foam.

  11. HAHAHAHA Man don't you know anything.:D

You string the dental floss though it then shove it through the hole you are trying to fill. Then tape the dental floss to the car so the screen doesn't fall out and then apply filler. Voila a repair fit for a hillbilly:rolleyes::D.

No offense to any real live hillbillies.

Seemed perfectly fine to me ...

If he was fixing a up winter 'beater', selling a $199.00 car in a used car lot ... or just for a little beauty treatment for a car in the Demo Derby ... :D

I was waiting for him to pull out a handfull of newspaper and STUFF it in the hole before the Bondo ...

So, you feel that kind of work was acceptable in 1992?

Why not, wouldnt it be a good idea to prevent another HAMBer from being screwed by that hack?!?!?

Yeah, that's the way it was done.My wife watched the video, her dad was a bodyman 40 years ago and she remembers him doing shit like that.
Actually the guy was pretty skilled spreading on the filler and didn't get it on his hands.I liked the way he crudely shaped the sheetmetal over some wood.
Ya think Al worked for the the Bald headed prick car salemen mentioned in the Best car commercials thread here?

Ha! We spray foamed an old IH scout. Bondo sticks great to spray foam! A buyer came to look at it, brought a magnet, and we told him unless it was a foam and bondo magnet it wasn't going to stick anywhere!!!

Thats was horrifying, and I couldn't turn it off. A whole 24 mins of my life I'll never get back. 70s porn star meets Achmed the terrorist meets Bondo spokesperson meets a few bodymen I used to know lol!

I give his patches less than a year to hold. I couldn't watch all 3 .Too many bad memories Watched the 3 rd too many bad memories . I had one of my patches done the way he did it in the 3rd video never cracked. 5 years outside . Welding patches in is more professional .
