HELP! I think I finally have all my parts and ready to start frame fabrication. Starting off I have got a 1940 Chevy truck cab, 30 foot of 2x4 x 1/8 iron a pete and jakes 4 inch drop axle spring over style, vega steering box, using a 350 chevy and 400 transmission, 99 explorer 8.8 disc rearend. My first question is what would be better mounting the front axle on a perch on the front or using a 34 ford crossmember? I would like to get started on frame this weekend. I would like to know how long I should have up front before my Z at the cab I will need atleast 32" for motor I am thing 4.5 -5 foot? Any help is greatly appreciated. This is the style of frame I am building. Stolen from hamb r.s.s.
You're going to have to mock everything up so see how it all fits together. There is no set number for anything its all in what you want. Mat
Please stop asking questions and then deleting the posts - it's very confusing to people who cannot see what you have deleted. You will find a lot of relevant tech for parts of your build here on the HAMB and in the tech archives if you search. But understand that we are focused on traditional hot rods and customs.
