Do you remember what you where doing when you heard the news? It was a Tuesday and my wife and I where watching "Good Day Atlanta" when they broke in with live coverage, thats when we saw the second plane crash into the other tower.
I was on my into work when word came over the radio about the first plane. I turned the station to news radio to confirm what I had heard and then made my 25min commute in about 15 min. When I got to base it was already locked down and we were there for three days on standby. Lets not forget.
Never Forget. With all the political jargon and BS going on lately, it seems people are losing pride and faith in the country. Everyone should stop and think how blessed we are to have been born into this great country, and as bad as the world and economy is, we all live a great lifestyle. We get to drink cold beer, talk cars, haul ass, take care of our loved ones and spend time with friends. Today, we should all thank any service man or woman, an our veterans for all they sacrificed for our freedoms! Keep this going guys. Where were you 8 years ago? Im a youngin, I was in a high school history class when we heard of the first tower being hit, turned CNN on in just enough time to watch the 2nd tower be struck. I remember feeling like I was suckerpunched, I was so floored to see anyone wanting to do that to our country, our brothers and sisters, our fellow countrymen. Itll be a memory that I will forever retain..
I remember, I heard that a plane crashed into one of the twin towers so I put the news on and thought "wow, that's crazy, had to be an accident," then while watching the news the second plane hit, brodcasted live and I couldn't believe it! The World Trade Center is about ten miles from my house, there was smoke on my block from the fire (10 miles away) for days. The city shut down completely, it was weird... I've never seen NY like that before or since.
My flag is up..1/2 mast I fly it everyday,, weather permitting.. sad day.. we still need to keep the faith that what we do here will keep us safe from this ever happining again..but never turn you back on it, .Never give up your right to protect your family, your country, and what you believe in,(even if it means deadly force) as the core of being...An American Bless the soldiers bless their families. bless those who have been lost, and those left behind to grieve
I just left the yard to go to work. Made it as far as the gate, heard some coverage on the Frank Show - a local shock jock type. Ran back into the house yelling, turned on the telly and saw the second bldg come down live. Still went to work, we spent all day in front of a small telly that Phil brought in. My youngest, Jaime, was 3. She asked "why would anyone want to do that?" Then she thought it happened repeatedly when it was replay coverage. Lot of parental explaining that day. I'm still in some disbelief, ya know? Next day at work, my boss asked me to put our flag at half-mast. Try doing that with dry eyes.
My boss and many of my good friends were in the building when it hit. I was managing our San Francisco office at the time, and immediately got a phone call. They all conferenced in together to get headcount, and I listened to them all via phone while they tried to get out. Hearing first hand descriptions of what was happening WHILE it was happening was unforgettable. I was supposed to be in that meeting that day, and a change of plans 3 days prior altered my schedule. Part of me feels blessed for not being there, part of me feels like I missed an opportunity to help. God bless our troops, and yes, PLEASE be thankful every day for the incredible lives we are all able to live and enjoy.
Last night on Discovery there was a program about the conspiracy of the whole event. What a bunch of malarky! The "Truthers" are a bunch of so called educated idiots. The devils who masterminded this are burning in hell without a virgin in sight.
I will never forget god bless the firefighters and everyone who risked their lives on that day. Our thoughts and prayers out to all the victoms of that day.
I was on my way to an auto auction in Chicago. I was listening to Spike O'dell on WGN 720 am radio. He was reporting that Michael Jordan had just announced that he was coming out of retirement to play for the Bulls again. I stopped for gas in my car hauler, when I got back in the cab, he was reporting that a plane had struck the first tower! On my drive into the city I listened with horror as the reports cam over the radio of a plane hitting the second tower. When I got tot he auction which is located south of Chicago, all the dealer's were watching the TV, not bidding on cars, as both towers came down. From the auction location you can see the Sears Tower in the distance to the North on a clear day. After seeing what happened in Manhattan, it was on everyone's mind, was the Sears Tower next? On my way home that afternoon, I heard the reports of the plane hitting the Pentagon and the one that went down in pennsylvania. Also, all air traffic had been grounded at that time. The town where I live, Peru, IL, is located off Interstate 80 which is the Highway I take to Chicago. On my way home there was a lone Jet flanked by two smaller jets high in the sky traveling from the west. It was Air Force One taking President Bush from the government installation out west back to Washington DC. What a Sad and Tragic day.
I'm an elementary school principal and today we had a school-wide assembly so we could do the pledge and sing "God Bless America". Never too young to start instilling patriotism. God Bless America!
should i remember this like the lusitania, and pearl harbor, its just the same as the burning of the riechstag. It was a false flag to get us into a money war. but war is such a wierd word to use for an invasion.
The TV came on as it was used as the alarm. I sat bolt upright when they said what had happened. I couldnt believe it and still cant.I cant believe the borders are still open and homelandsecurity thinks veterans are the new problem. The Air Force base next to where I work suspended all flights as did the airport. That was very strange. The only flag I saw on the way in this morning was flying from my bike. sad.
I was eating some coco puffs that morning and today I did the same thing without thinking about it. GOD BLESS THE USA
I was at work in mid-town NYC, went out on the street, looked downtown and I will never forget. My older son became a fire fighter soon after.

Dobbins Air Force Base and Lockheed Martin is 1/2 mile from where I work....theres aways aircraft flying so low you can see the pilot....Man when a C-5 cruises over its scares the be-Jesus out of ya..and a RAPTOR makes you feel proud that sucker is OURS!
I was in High school, history class when I heard about it. We all went to the next room with a TV and watched and I remember the silence... I have now been In the ARMY for 6 years. (I saw that "truthers" show the other night. The only people that need to worry about US Vets are these idiots.)
Wow, thank you. Those words mean a lot. I'm just doing my part to help our children become sucessful and productive citizens. Best part was that a 1st grader (of Chinese decent) broke right into God Bless America after the pledge without missing a beat and knew all the words. I almost starting crying. Gave her a hi-five and a hug.
I was at work just outside Boston. I was talking to a customer on the phone when she said a plane hit the World Trade Center. I was thinking it was a probably a small 2 seater or something. I told a co-worker, someone put a small TV in the break room and we all kept watching, walking away in shock and coming back. I remember watching the towers fall. I just wanted to run home to my new wife and call my daughter. The drive home was actually quiet, I remember watching the skies all day. The Friday after, the local radio station everyone should light candles and put them out in your yard. While I was driving home that night I saw a rainbow at sunset in the Eastern skies, the skies were kind of grey but there was a rainbow. I never forget. As a bit of a side note, a good friend of mine from my days in the Air Force, his son is taking his physical to join to the Marine Corps today. God Bless America and all our Armed Forces.
just remember that the united states of america is about more than our politicians and political motivations. it's about the people who live here and what we stand for. i don't have to believe the propaganda, i can educate myself and believe what i want. that is what freedom is, and i am a proud american.
