My dream car is a '49-50 Merc. As soon as I find one that I can restore/build.

You can count me in one of these days! lol.

  10. I have it here somewhere.
Just looking but in the meantime

Looks a lot like my 39 Mercury coupe whitch came from Denmark with the same rust "issues".
But it's a 39 Merc and it's in my garage, that's the most important

    Good luck with rebuilding it.

Im in with my new Merc. It's a survivor from the 60's. Was from California originally and made it's way to the east coast where it's been for the past 40 years. It's now in my garage. Sorry for the large pic

Hey Homemade, did you buy that from Foxy Elder? That is one of the nicest un-chopped 51 around.

some pictures of my 49. My grandfather, and Dad had painted this car over 25 years ago. they owed a restoration business, and street rod shop from the 50s-90s on Long Island. This car has a very cool history, car was chopped and customized, and painted orange back in the 50s, in Hawaii. Came to the mainland, changed hands a couple times. The car was repainted, and all the body work freshened up and all the stainless redone by my dad back in the early 80s. The car won best interior at Lead East Back in 1984. Changed hands one more time. My dads friend bought the car in 1985 an had it for the last 24 years. The car went on fire in back 2000. The car was taken apart and I purchased the car as a painted shell in september 2008. I have been wrenching on this car to get it back on the road. My dad and gramps have both past, i know they would love the HAMB. I have a picture of my dad mercury, and my gramps shop car in my photo album. Many members have given me a ton of help as i am trying to put my mercury back together. I post some more pictures when i get it all done. By the way, it already has wide whites on it!

yeah..I got it from Foxy..he's not doing good health wise. Part of the deal was giving me his jigs and showing me how to make those stainless clips for the window trim. I think he was the only guy around making them.

It's a really solid car. That paint job on it is almost 30 years old..unbelievable. I'd like to put a white roll and pleat interior in it this winter. Added those teardrop knobs and have been doing little things to it to make it my own. Thanks for the nice comments
