Hi people, this thread will have 39,40,41 Fords from New Zealand. The family have a 41 Ford pickup and a 39 Ford coupe, that were new in New Zealand. Most of the 40,41,47 Ford pickups were new for the New Zealand Army as cab and chassis, which is why many of these pickups here do not have the original wellsides. There were heaps of 39 Ford coupes in New Zealand, and alot of them were used for stockcar racing which reduced numbers. The 39 Ford coupes are very sort after in this country, and very rarely come up for sale. There were no 40 Ford sedans or coupes new in New Zealand. Over the last few years there have been a few 40 pickups, 40 coupes,40converts, imported from USA. This photo of the 40 Ford pickup, was taken in 1991, and is the best I have seen in this country. This pickup was all original
Heres a mates 40 Ford he has owned for many years, and was rebuilt from scratch, after it was found on a farm in a bad way after a storm.
My 41 Ford pickup,as it is at the moment. Has been in the family for 50 years, and has mainly sat in barns for the last 30.
WOW that gold 40 pick up is beautiful, what a great build, credit to that guy he nailed it,really nice ride.
Heres the family 39 Ford coupe, has been in the family for 40 years. The blue light on the roof was used in the early days, when you had to have it on if you were towing a trailer.
Heres a 39 coupe that was at New Zealands biggest swapmeet a few years ago, was sold that day, wad been sitting in a barn for many years, was a runner
Heres a 39 Ford convertible, which was restored in the 80s, and is still in mint condition. There are only 3 convertible 39 Fords that I know of in New Zealand
Nah Mitch, just giving members a view of whats on the other side of the world, but now that you say it, it might be giving me night wood.
Well you sure did a good job on the truck man. And so did your buddy. You guys have some nice stuff over there. A friend of mine just sold a '67 Mustang to a guy in New Zealand. Another friend of mine owns a Muscle Car club down there.
Theres been heaps of cars coming into the country from all over the world, especially Mustangs. Will post some 40s that have been imported into NZ
Hows it, can't put a face to the name, you may know the ole man Robert. That Jailbar pickup, wasnt that on Trade-me recently, looks a cool truck as it sits. Darryn
One I spotted in the early '70's in Auckland. And don't forget the "Famous in NZ" Wild Honey '40 Ford.. .
Hi Darryn, a rare car then also ! I just went through my photos and found these for ya , all pics were taken in the South Island...
I believe the slopers pretty much an Australian affair. Any in New Zealand would have been imported privately from there.
Clive is right in saying, they are pretty much a Aussie thing, hey but, they are 'neat'........... I dont know if there are any in NZ , I personally have never seen one here, this one I shot in Aussie at the Bright Rod Run.
Some cool photos guys, heres some rodded ones. The yellow 40, i saw in the early 90s at Hastings Drag Strip, it was a tuff truck racing against 70s dodges, in its class
Some nice examples. Very neat to have kept yours in the family all these years. (I've had my '36 for a long time, too.) Are yours original or survivors? I don't recall that shade of green being a factory color. What is it called?
Some pics from my trip a couple of years back. A very strong old car scene for a population of only 4 million........
