Ha! I am not one of the guys on here who busts others balls but that was funny. You have to have a thick skin on here man so anythime you as "what's your opinion on ...?" or make a statement about something as hallowed as a Merc then expect for the floodgates to be opened.
Btw, I don't see anything special about that Merc either. My opinion, it looks like there are a few conflicting design elements. Congrats to him and you though on having the good taste to like Mercs though.

The above mentioned Mercs are some of the best ever for a reason.

Here is one owned by a friends buddy. Not done yet but has very nice style to it.

Now where's that thread on Best Buicks? Or more info on Matraga's Merc. I have loved that since I was a little kid. Had a pic of it on my bedrrom wall until I moved out of Moms and Dads

Look how "custom" the inner fenderwells and billet pulleys are...

I just remembered, besides Riksters site there is at least one thread on here about Mercury's, there is a social group for them and I think Photo Albums too. Look around some more, you will gaurunteed find one you like better.

Dude, its not bothering me at all, i love attitude and i love to go snap for snap with people...its funny as hell but there is no need for anyone to be an "ASS".
I'll agree there is nothing very special about his car, nothing at all but hell i can say that about 70% of the stuff i see in any mag on the shelf...so big deal whats the point. Point is i made my choice said what i thought, shoot me. I admit i should have worded the post different but i dont so...oh well. I'd also like to have everyone's pick on the 57 chevy too but hey thats another post for another time.
I looked at the merc social group, amazing cars. Looked at a ton of merc sites and the merc owners group site, amazing cars in fact I LOVE ALL 49-51 MERCS, ALL OF THEM! Still, I would pick Carey's if someone came to me and said dude pick one any one

I like this one, because to me it's not over the top, but still gets the point across.

Mine!!!! Why, because I am building it. Im not paying someone else or buying something done. Its my ideas all the way. If someone wants to pick it apart and bitch about the pulleys I use or the wheels I run. Go for it.
The reality is that each of us sees cars differently and we all like different things. There is no such thing as the "Best anything ever built"
Some folks on here need a Bud and a lude

I love all Mercs. Everyone has there own style.
To me the 2 Mercs that really stand out are Jesse James' blue merc (love that 1)and Mercury Charlies purple one. Both are Cleanly executed.

  23. This is the first version of the Louis Bettancourt Merc Ayala built. A great car that I think was improved upon when refreshed by Barris.

For a modern day build, I'll pick Terry Hegman's '51. Speaking of the originals, I love the Hirohata and Sam Barris 'Mercs.

I won't say it's the best ever, but Jesse's Merc is damn nice.
