Projects My Model A Roadster will scream... "Sorry Littleman"!!!

Last year I had a scare when I had an Oil filter gasket blow out and lost 4 quarts of oil very quickly and I thought I damaged the engine.

Well I bought another 455 block this spring and sent it out to "ROCKET RACING" for John to do his magic!

In the meantime I drove my Roadster with the old engine for another 10,000 virtually trouble free miles since that incident including trips to Mokan, Great Lakes Dragway, and all points in between and I completely forgot all about the new engine.

Last week I received a call from John and he informs me that my "Short Block" is done... bored 60 over to 468 Cubic Inches with a "New" Balanced lightweight swing ***embly... about 108 ounces lighter, flat top pistons, SFI rated flex plate and SFI rated harmonic balancer and a new cam! Heck the Crank has holes through rod journals!! (Wonder how strong that is??)



So he delivered it to the hanger and I started drooling over it as I started ***embling this "MONSTER"... Heck.... I'm "giddy as a schoolgirl"!

The new engine has the complete "Eagle Swing ***embly" with lightweight pistons that'll give her an 11 to 1 compression ratio and a "Solid Lifter" Lunati cam with 553 intake and 564 exhaust lift and 107 degree lobe separation!



Finally have an engine that'll stomp out most "soccer mom" suv's!

After the transplant I'll have to address a Very serious issue of "Safety" and "Traction".

I'm very curious what it'll run... last year with the old engine I ran 11.70 at 123 mph from an idle and "ZERO Traction"... basically I put it in drive and floor it.



John saw my Dyno pull from last year and said my timing was off and my carbs weren't breathing... my numbers were small and they dropped off after 3,400 rpm. He told me to get rid of the Cal Custom scoops and put a larger doughnut in the MSD and I'd see better numbers.

Then he told me the only way the new engine would "EVER" see's this low of numbers is... if it "weren't running"!

I think I'll take his advice because he runs a 3,600 lb 1965 Olds 442 in the Mid Nines...!

I plan on caging the car, running slicks and power tuning for slicks and driving it to MOKAN and compete for the "YAY-HOO"cup!

Think I have a chance...? What do you guys think???

I plan on updating this thread as I strive to achieve 10 second something and 20 mpg... well maybe not the latter!

You can never have too much H.P.........just too little $ left.

Just think... If I'd had the "Deluxe Dental" package I wouldn't have been able to afford this engine!!! Ouch...

I hope you know that "traction challenged" will be your biggest problem. I can't see you being able to use full throttle at all before high gear. Nice problem to have. Some EXPENSIVE tires (and most likely a gear change) and a lot of practice are in your future.. Be sure to share the "fun"

Right now I'm not allowed to run at any track until it gets caged... and
when that gets installed... I'll be able to finally dial it in....!

There's more to winning the Yay-Hoo Cup than a big engine! Yer gonna have to figure out how to get it to hook up to get down the track.

Sounds like a lot of fun and quite a handfull, Mark. I'd say you should have some exciting test and tunes in your future!
