Event Coverage Sept 26 2009 HAMB Cruise to the Broiler

Great news guys and gals!! There will be a free cruise in at the Broiler on Setp 26, 2009 starting at 11am going till sunset. I think it would be great to get a group of cars to meet at George's Diner in Long Beach and cruise up Bellflower Blvd through Old Town.

Meeting Places:

1. Long Beach and Surrounding Area
George's Diner - 10am and on the road by 10:15 or so.
Some will be there for breakfast around 9am.
See post #74 for the route description.

2. South Bay
Altered Pilot's Shop at 10AM straight to the Broiler
3 blocks north of the 405 at the Inglewood Ave exit. (just south of LAX, and east of Manhattan Beach)

Anti-Donut (Pappa Z's) 7am for breakfast and leave by 9am.
Some will go to George's to cruise with that group and some will go striaght to the Broiler.

I'd like to start At The Anti-Donut breakfast and then cruise to George's to meet everyone there. Then Join up with Roadsterpu for the cruise up to the Broiler.

we can meet here at 9:15 for a 9:30 departure to georges OR at 10 ish for straight a shot to the broiler.

I'll let you guys decide which way it goes.

Really looking forward to meeting both of you! Not sure which place we will meet at yet as I'll have to map it out and see but Me, Megan and Scott will try our very best to cruz with everyone and hang out for a short while at the Broiler. We have a prior committment at 11am that I'm trying to talk Megan into being late for. We're still working it out.

I'm thinking the same thing.

its kind of back tracking to go from lawndale to long beach and then up to downey.

plus thats ALOT of street driving from georges to the broiler.

I'm in. The last Cruise route was pretty cool, even though I took a few wrong turns! It's the old route up Hawthorne blvd, across Slauson. Passes alot of cools tuff- A&W, the Wich Stand, Ed Roth's old Maywood Studio, Pann's, Hawthorne Diner, etc.etc. Chili Phil ran the very first cruise and has alot of knowledge from back in the day. What say you, Phil?

I'm not gonna drive all the way to Georges,then back-track to Downey! I'm up for meeting at the Orange Circle and driving straight there,if anyone wants to join me. I'll probably take the 91 frwy to Bellflower Blvd then north to firestone.

Hey,i've been "off the hook" now for two years!!! Just don't feel like burning up a bunch of gas for nothing.

 

Go straight to the Broiler from the circle? You'll get there by 9:00 and wait 2 hours before anything starts happening. Now that is power parking.

 

I don't think the restaurant will be open on the 26th.

We should do the Hawthorne Blvd. route as that was THE cruise route back in the day.
