I probably shouldn't have resurrected this thread but I shot some pics today and it probably kinda rounds out my build thread. This is what became of that pile of junk on page 1.

I'm happy with it. Still needs work but I can finally say "I have a hot rod"

What stage of Rego are you at?

Club reg at this stage. I might revisit the full reg thing down the track.

Still have to make some cycle guards, header covers and put an exhaust on it to get my plates.

    Bravo!!!

That's one fine looking Hot Rod amigos......

A true example of how they are meant to be built!!!

    HC.

  8. Header covers? Please elaborate.

Have enjoyed your exploits as I have followed along, turned out great, you got the radiator height just right in relation to the cowl, the windscreen you made was not only inventive but also traditional all the way, and I especially like the bubble for the drag link, even if it is on the wrong side!

    Thanks for the journey, UNCLEE!!!!!

Thanks Unc. Lucky I got all that shit right really. It was a real eye opener the first time I rolled it outside. My shed is fairly big but I couldn't get super far back to eyeball it.

The headers. I have to have some sort of protection to stop dumb shits burning their shins when I park at the supermarket. Got any ideas?

You are building my car/truck! I have all the exact same parts to include the Fordson gas tank! My tank has a bullet hole in one end that I was planning on sealing with some epoxy and a .50 cal slug I found on a road north of Baghdad while we were clearing an IED . I might be able to part with the gas tank if someone really needs it (too many projects)? PM if your interested, only thing is I'm not getting back from Iraq till mid-Dec :(. I didn't realize it was divided for the different fuels?

Heck ya you should have, how would some of us have seen it.
I have just spent the last several hours (off and on) reading this thread, and got more amazed as I read. It blows me away how resourceful someone can get when they need to.

    Thanks for updating.

I'll look forward to seeing that car built.

Some of those tanks are divided and some are not. Not sure on the years.

Thanks Steve. I take that as quite a compliment coming from you.

    PM has me confused

All you other guys...thanks for the thumbs up...much appreciated

All the 60s Aussie guys used some sort of chicken wire!

    Now THAT's oldschool! :D

Don't know about that. It's been at 3 shows: Chopped, Johns Picnic and The Kustom Nats at Phillip Island.

It got a trophy at the picnic.

Funny thing is that there are pics of it in the Picnic coverage in Aust Street Rodding and the caption says it has appeared in previous years in various stages of build and this year it has paint. Never rolled out of my shed until Sept '09 and it had paint on it.

    Maybe there's a clone already ;)
