I swear I would have a whole fleet of minors done all different ways if I had it my way. But who's lucky enough to have that kind of money huh.

Morris Minors are still built in Croatia under license.

last week I had a guy come out to repair my refridgerator( mother board fried...go figure) he saw my cars parked out back and we started takin shp....well he and his wife were seperating and movin out of thier home, and since I was a car guy and had a place to put it he offered me thier 49 morris minor traveler woody wagon project , along with anything else I wanted left in their garage. YEAH BABY! this stuff never happens to me.....I'm waiting to get flattened by and asterroid or something now.... Well I went out to his place the next day and besides being cut in half its a pretty good find. I also salved a 40 ford steering wheel, a welder , 2early dodge/plymouth fenders, a 50s camp cooler and some 327 double humps. I post some pics as soon as I figure out how....Dave

  7. My mum had one when we were kids. They were designed by Issegonis who went on to do the mini. They sold heaps throughout the commonwealth backed by a huge established dealer network. There were heaps 'hotted' here.
They dont all have to be gasser builds either. They take Datsun stuff easily + lotsa other combos. There's a guy local who built a sweet panel- van daily driver and an extremely nice candy red 'baby '40 coupe'. Both super jobs- the panel I see on the street a lot. Have to see if I can get to know the builder 'coz he knows his stuff and some shots would be cool in this thread.
p.s. There's some good dedicated U.K. M.Minor print magazines published too- one down under maybe ?..

The one in post 25 reminds me of the Matranga coupe. It's the first thought I had when I saw it. Anyone else see the resemblance only in smaller scale?

    Bitchin'!

Hey would anyone have pics of an MGB done up gasser style? I doubt anyone back in the day actually campaigned one... but with the first year being '64 if i'm not mistaken... it's possible someone could've picked one up wrecked and shoehorned something in there before the gasser craze ended.

I've got a '67 BGT right now that i'd love to do something crazy with. I already had a '68 GT6 with a 289 in it... Fun stuff.

I don't know for sure about the 50's, but the 60's minors used a manual sterring rack. Actually my 57' morris traveller woody had a steering rack too.

I think I remember that our old dragster had a Morris Box. But that was 1964. The steering came out the right side of the cowl and Jim Davis had saw cut pieces from the box on several different planes. Just somthing in the back of my mind and saving parts to re produce the car. By the way it was the U.S. Kids AA/FD from 1964 to 1967, don't have pictures on this computer.

I will have to check my truck and see if it has a box or a rack.

Thanks for the link! I'm drooling over some of those old British cars converted to gassers. Too bad my '67 is too new for all of the events I want to run in though... i'd get booted out of DOTD lol.

I talked with that guy. It was the first time out for the car - started out conservative, ended up going mid 11's, last I saw.

Oh good, it worked. Not my favorite shots, but...
This is '07 at Bonneville. But it's a street/strip car.
Just thought something besides a Gasser style might be interesting.

    jangleguy,
Any info on that car ?? I was so bummed when i saw that car and I couldn't have mine there, tell the post some of the story of the trip for you to the salt.....I think that was the coolest writeup, the things you went through to conquer a quest....I forget what mag it was in. I have it round round here somewhere.....next year we will have a group of these
    cars at the HAMB drags.:D:D

Roach - Yeah, there seems to be enough Morrises (Morrisi?) now to start a club!
Jeez, ya think you have an original idea, then... Oh well, I love 'em all! The ones you guys posted are all killer...

Glad you remembered the salt story - it was in the July '08 R&C (pretty weird, writing about my own car - that just doesn't happen)...

Can any of you Morris people tell me what size and type of tire I can run on stock Morris Minor rims? We need to get some shoes on my wife's '58. The Aussie board says you have to run inner tubes and you can't run radials with inner tubes, but my wife wants radials. Any help would be appreciated!

Hellfish, The stock size tyre is 5.20 14'' bias ply or in radial 145 you can get away with 155.I've run radials with inner tubes on one of my Minors in the past with no problems. They handle a heck of a lot better on radials too, but don't tell anybody I said that!!!!!:D:D;)

Man I love the red woody turned panel truck, its beautiful. And this other one.... I don't know what to say... I can deffinately respect the amount of fabrication it took. Its pretty damn cool too.
