For everyone trashing this place, how many places are left where you can learn this stuff? it's not like it used to be where you could just buy an old car and there were a lot of people around to help you learn how to do it right. Lots of places shop classes don't even exist anymore. Standardized scores are more important then learning a skill you can use. If you read the thread he doesn't pick the style, the students do, and use their own projects. He teaches them how to do it right, and safely, with all the posts about rat rod crap, isn't it good to know someone is showing these kids how to build their cars safely? If you want the hot rod tradition to continue on to the next generation, these places are vital. It's not always about the money, how many other young people are the graduates of this class going to affect? Quit complaining and be glad he took the plunge and got this school going, we need more people like him to get the interest of these young people in the right direction. This should be something that people here get involved in, get these kids on the right track. Also if it was the street rod institute, they would be putting together cars out of premade parts from a catalog. I see a lot of fabrication going on, street rodders actually fabricate?

That place looks bad ass to me...If you have the money and time, it looks like a great way to learn.

Will you make good money when you graduate? I dunno.

It took me ten years to pay off my student loans for a 4yr college, and I certainly ate a lot of taco bell in that time! :)

not a problem with the school , the problem is the industry AFTER SCHOOL

  5. I put in better than 25 years before I started teaching. I'd do it again, but I would start teaching much sooner!:D

I know a lot of people, in all kinds of trades. Some happy some not. Doesn't matter what you do. If it fits you, your happy. If not then you should change as soon as you can. Bodywork and fab is hard work. If you think you want to do it, you should check it out well before you pay to go to school. Just like any other occupation.

  6. we need a place like this in Ontario Canada. great work guys. where was this school 5 years ago when i decided to be a steamfitter. being a fitter is good money but i would trade it all for a 20000 dollar a year job if i got to build hot rods everyday.

Stress force analysis testing my ass, your such a douchebag....we all have access to this equipment right in our back yards.....they're called pot holes, steep driveway enterances, drags strips and (if you want to drive far enough) the Bonneville Salt Flats. Many thousands, if not millions, of safe hot rods were built without the modern conveniences of CAD-CAM, FEA and SFA testing.

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the feed back. The good and the bad. My name is Kyle Harder, and I was a student in the first class. I have a post of my build around here somewhere, although I haven't had much time to work on it lately. I stayed on to help the school, and I am now the Director of Admissions. We are starting our third year in January, and we are beginning the Accreditation process as well. It will take about a year to become accredited, but we should be VA Funding approved sometime next year. I'd don't promise any student 100k salary, just the chance to wake up happy everyday. Anyone not "too cool for school" looking for information feel free to contact me through our website. Thanks for the support.
