thanks, I've gotta say I'm a little surprised at all the positive feedback. Is this the new "kindler, gentler HAMB"? The trad police must be out eating donuts.

Someone asked about the dash knobs. They are "Fordite" and my wife is a jeweler so she set them in some sterling silver bezels for me. Fordite is also known as "Detroit agate". Learn more here. http://www.fordite.com/forditehistory.htm

When I opened the post and that first pic popped ....I said to myself "now THERE is a real old time looking rod that sets and looks perfect" !!

I don't care if it has a non trad motor or not because the overall look really brings back the old days. You did a perfect job with the total look.

You realize some poor folks are gonna scratch their heads bald trying to figure out why you've got a "Pyrometer" and Boost gage but no tach!!

I've got a '49 Willys Overland and I'm arguing with myself over BBC vs ***mins.

A $100 low miles 366 was ahead, but your pix may have changed the score there.

    Love it!

Excellent Rod! Very well done and I love the fact that you thought outside the box with the diesel.

Check out this month's Hot Rod magazine. Just got mine in the mail yesterday. There is a Rod with a twin turbo ***mins diesel. Not as well done as yours though, more of a Rat Rod (god I hate using that term!)

Also, Popular Hot Rodding had a high dollar Chevelle with a Duramax Diesel in it a few months ago.

Congrats on crafting one fine HOT ROD. I'm sure the future will show others following in your footsteps.

The work on your rod exemplary. Your choice of power plants is unique and subtle to the casual observer. In other words, IT KICKS ***!!

    I like it:)

  13. what are the prices of 4bt diesels, want one cause they are no longer then a 8ba. any one that i find are 3500-9600 dollars. too high for me. i and sure others would love to hear what you learned about installing and setting one up. Correct me if i am wrong but they are mechanical right.

I bought a complete Wonder Bread truck for $3000 and between the body and some parts I sold off around $1300. A complete truck is a better way to get one. You end up with all the trinkets and parts to sell off.

They are 100% mechanical. There is 2 wires to the starter, 1 to the alt, and 1 to the fuel solenoid (and that one can be eliminated if you want). I can (and will) add like 30% more power with little more than a screwdriver to the injector pump.:D

I love it! Great build and a very cool concept. I'm diesel retarded, so tell me what kind of engine that is and what they came in... please.

    Very Cool.

Matt, I'm not suprised. You always have the coolest stuff around. Your new ride is way over the top and with your skills and ideas you just keep getting better. Watch out Chip Foose, Matt is knocking at your door. Keith

Love the Kenworth gauges, and the car. Super excellent. I love how you dared to be different in the right areas too....the drivetrain is too cool.

30-35 mpg? I won't argue, but would like to see some real-world numbers. I want to put a 6.5 in my 58 Apache. Great execution, by the way.

  28. May I suggest a couple more lugnuts on that left front wheel? Especially if you're doing donuts!

That diesel with all the plumbing definetly looks period time-y. You did a great job with every aspect of the car.
Is the Gasboy dash insert from an old gas pump? Or just the bottom part?

My hats off to ya! Damn thats cool!
