The results of IR are dramatically different than might be expected from a true manifold...Flatdog went from 3 to 4 Strombergs in one experiment before the supercharger, and reported the car as feeling undercarbed...this was an over-300 cube flathead. There is considerable anecdotal evidence that the Edelbrock 4 runs like an IR and ignores the little connectors. It is very obviously not meant to be runnable with any sort of progressive or dummy carb setup. The side p***ages are small. I want one to experiment with...
The connecting p***ages on my Edelbrock 4x2 aren't small, I don't think (manifold is back in the states, but I'll see it in a few weeks if I remember!) - I want to say they're smaller than the dual plane 2x2 p***ages (which are quite large), but still at least the size of the carb ****erflies...maybe larger.
The p***ages on my 4X2 Edelbrocks are aprox 3/4" square One of the manifolds I have blocked the p***ages but running EFI so it is different from carbs but I have found as Bruce said, if true one port per cylinder then it needs bigger throttle valves. Also I think the off idle with that many carbs needs the throttle where they move slow off idle and then open faster as the rpm comes up. Vergil
Bruce if i werent heading to the machine shop id send you mine for a few months so you can toy around...maybe after I play around with it ill send it to you so you can experiment with it
