The bus in the background was running a blown 409 and a Hydro, set up for chase vehicle duty. The maintenance crew used to sneak it off base on the weekends to run it at Lions. It was well on its way to being track champion in AA/CSB (AA/Converted School Bus) class when a front tire blew and they barrel rolled it through the lights. They salvaged the drivetrain and swapped it into one of those super-short trucks with the "Follow Me" sign on the back, figuring that the sign would be just the thing to taunt their competitors, but discovered that when they dropped the hammer, the thing would just flip over backwards. The engine was then pressed into duty powering an air-raid siren, but the massive power of the engine over-sped the siren, causing it to scream at such a high pitch that it actually drowned out the jet engines. The base commanded had enough of it at that point and ordered it buried somewhere out on the dry lake.

Seriously, with all the assorted, non-car pics on this thread (snow, little kids, other planes, etc.), I didn't think it would offend anyone. I still stand by the fact that it is a cool pic!

Something quite obvious! This might be a little late (a few pages back) and off topic... (but I get stuff kicked all the time for less) BUT! In the pictures of women from the 30's, 40s, 50's and 60's, you seldom see women that are overwieght! Even in the group shots they're just not there. They didn't have gym time, fancy diets etc.. what's happened since then!?
