    Does anyone know what the Height x Length x Width of a 1961 Buick Nailhead is?

    Did you ever get this info. If not I have a 401 in my 60 buick. I just need to know where exactly to measure from.

    No I haven't gotten it yet. I need measurement at widest parts of the engine LxWxH. I am going to put it in my '50 Chevy truck and want to make sure it fits.without having to shoe horn it in

  7. try www.carnut.com i dont remember where to look on there, somewhere in specs i would bet. but there are tons of dimentions for tons of engines

    I found a thread on here that said 29" but I haven't verified it yet, other links say 31, yet another 33.5 (length) If anybody has an exact measurement I'd like to know as well.

    That's a good table there Lobuc. Where's the Early Caddy motors though?

    I can't believe how small and lightweight (comparatively) the big inch Caddys are.

    Wicked, nailhead will go in no probs. The length would be the only potential hurdle, but width...I could fit a hood on my A with 401, if I wanted one.

    The length of a Nailhead is usually the only concern...other than the drivers side starter if you need to clear a steering box.

    But then again, I'm just noticing they say a nailhead starter is on the right??? ...so, WTF else is wrong with the chart???:confused:
    I'm all of a sudden not trusting it!

    Yeah I found a flaw or two there too. Like not all nailheads have a rear sump pan. some are in the center....sorta
