There are a few of us that are flying in for the RM Auction at the Petersen Museum on Satuday Sept 26th. http://www.rmauctions.com/search-up...e=RW09&yearFrom=&yearTo=&LotNum2=&Make=&Model= Megan and I were kinda wondering who else was attending besides the ones we've been PMing and emailing back and forth with? We're not going to plan a Meet & Greet since we'll kinda be in and out BUT we would like to meet new HAMB pals if you are going. Let's us know if you are going to the auction on Saturday or maybe the preview on Friday afternoon or maybe just the cocktail party on Friday night. If you see us PLEASE introduce yourself...a PM after the fact telling me you saw me but I was busy and you didn't want to interupt doesn't not sit well with me. I am never to preoccupied to meet new car pals. OK, so who's going and when? We are also going to fit the Harvey's Broiler cruz on Saturday morning (see the thread for details) AND a Dupars breakfast at the Farmers Market AND a few other exciting super secret places (TM). PM me for details about the breakfast if you are interested in joining us. Full weekend coverage will follow shortly thereafter.
Now that would be something to see. I wish I could go but there is just way too much stuff going on around here that needs to get done. Have fun!!!
I'm so excited (insert tina turner song here)! Glad things worked out so I could go. Looking forward to seeing all of my west coast pals!
.......The Pointer Sisters are very sad right now.... My wife and I are flying in from PA. I am a lurker, so I really don't know anyone, but if we see you there we will say something. We may also go to the Harvey's Broiler Cruise... -Mike
Can't be there but when you look at all those cars know my blood sweat and tears on more than a few of them... mostly tears since they are all gone now... Enjoy the auction and bring a few extra buck you never know what stuff will sell for!
Can you fill me in on the running condition of the '49 Olds? I know it sat in storage for the 10 years prior to Ralph purchasing it. Was anything done to the car while in Ralph's possession? Is it a reliable driver at this point or does it need to be gone thru?
I wish I had the vacation time to drive it home BUT I do have someone lined up who does but only if the car is a reliable driver. I didn't realize I might have the inside scoop on the car from someone who might know something about car since Ralph's purchase.
Lookin forward to this. And that Shotgun seat you requested is ready and waiting. Friday Night 'cocktails' (sure honey tell us a few) and the the Harvey's cruise before the auction
Yep, but I won't have to fly this guy back to LA as he lives here. Me to hun, me to. Thanks for the "set up", I owe ya one...or a dozen. Cool, will be nice to see ya there. I'll PM you info about a breakfast gig.
My son & saw you two there. I should have said hi but I'm kind shy... LOL... Interesting event, as a land speed racer I was mainly there for that part but some other history went across the block too. A couple of shots I took...... The Sadd, Teague, & Bentley blown fuel roadster. Al Teague's 400 mph streamliner. Tom Beatty's tank from the '50's And I gotta give a shout out to the Tony Nancy roadster even if it's only a drag car.... LOL Denise & Magan were to my right in this shot. The only thing missing from this shot was Jungle Pam, missed you there sweetie.
Nope, went for alittle more then we were willing to pay. It was a MN car with rust holes under the taillights and drivers side floor pan had some major surface rust. The paint was so-so, the interior was ok but not mine or my Dad's style, headliner had a rip, carpet was very worn and faded and the drivers door panel was very stained and discolored. We decided to go as high as 15K, no more, and at that most of us that looked at the car felt we could get a nicer car for less money but it was a moot point as the car opened at 25K and sold for 26K. Both Mom and Dad are disappointed but I do believe we will be able to find them something much nicer and more to their style. Put the word out, '49/50 Olds fastback in extremely decent condition.
