I have a 55 Chevy two door BelAir, As everyone knows , it came with a bench seat and for years I kept it that way, Years ago I changed it over to 1963 or 1964 Impala bucket seats that tilt forward and in towards the console at a angle for easier acess to the back seats area. I have always enjoyed it that way,And it looks cool to me that way. I DID keep and still DO have everything to put it back as stock, but i'll have to recover the bench if I go back with that set-up. NOW due to a heart health scare, and the economy,I'm going to be getting my ducks in a row and getting rid of a bunch of stuff that I know my kids have no idear whats its worth. I thinking I should go back stock ! NOW THE QUESTION IS ? Which way do you Guys & Gals like a 55 Chevy ????? I guess I should do a survey ! I DO know that it will be easy to get rid of either the buckets or bench, as a matter of fact a year or so back I had talked with a fellow on here about him getting my bench from me,But I lost contact...SORRY ...
Bucket seats in a car big enough for a bench seat are for people who have been married too long and want any excuse to not touch each other...
Hi from Illinois! In looking at your pics I think the buckets look the best. Just my opinion nothing wrong with a bench. Shawn
well im no help at all cause lookin at the pics havent helped. i like both and cant pick one over the other. guess its the same for you. look after that heart and take it easy.
I would say if you were going to put it all back stock then put the bench back but if you are going to keep the little wheel and any other mods keep the buckets besides the upholstery matches. When it has to be sold I don't think anybody would turn it down because they would have to buy a seat.
If this is to help the kids sell it, I vote for the bench. Just remember that bench is worth some good money.
rustynewyorker Six is enough for this old man.... Thank God they are grown (for the most part anyway)hhaahahhhahhhahahah! kiwipackard<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_4387195", true); </SCRIPT> Thanks , God willing, I'll be fine as long as I do as the Doc said and take a hand full of pills in the AM & PM. I was going to say Not the good kind of pills,But if they keep my mess pumping ,I guess they ARE the good kind ! And I've been working on this problem for a while now and its getting to be just another part of life......
Do I see a 63 console between those seats? The buckets and console are perfect in your car. I did the same with my 51 convertible. Corvair buckets and the 63 console. There's something about being just a little different than everyone else. Dom
Personally, I'd have to see the rest of the car. If its a kustom style car. Benches are the way to go! (Kustoms are built to pick up chicks, and/or keep your gal close to you) If its more race-oriented, Buckets are the sure bet. (Hot Rods are built to get away from girls. tm Robert Williams)

First let me say I don't like bucket seats in 50's cars. That to me (in my personal opinion) is what makes a 50's car, a 50's car. BUT. The ones you selected looks just as good as the bench to me, and the upholstery matches nicely. You can't go wrong either way. -Chris
If you are looking at it from a selling stand point, I think you would be better off selling the bench seat, I personaly wouldnt give any more or less either way for the car with or without the bench and by the time you recover and fix the shifter cut out you will have spent what you got out of the buckets. So looks to me like you would be 500 or so ahead to sell the bench.
IF any bucket seats were to be put in a 55-57 Chevy, in my opinion it would be the early GM's you mentioned. Because of the size, and chrome they do look right at home. It's a hard choice for me. I have a bench in my 57. But, i had it so i used it. Plus, mine is a hard top so it fits the look better. Your's being a post car, the buckets would be my choice. It would only add to the nice look the car has already. just my 2 cents Tony
all my rigs have the stock front bench seats( easy to p*** out in !) It's your car if you like the bucket stick with them. I like 50's cars and early rigs with bench seat ( and no not park benches lol) my 2 cents
I would always say bench but your buckets and whole interior look great. I find those buckets more appealing for some reason.
I would trade my 55 bench seat and back seat(needing upholstery bad) for some buckets and a back with good upholstery like yours.
I like buckets in 55's as long as it's not a restored car. I had 66 T-Bird buckets in mine. Perfect fit, I do also like 64 Impala seats. Gary
This is what I was thinking...if it doesn't have the original seat it could be something a potential buyer might try to drive the price down with. That being said, the buckets look fantastic.
Deyomatic<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_4392294", true); </SCRIPT> , Thanks for the positive comments about the buckets, Like I said in my OP , I still have the original bench seat and all the t******* to put it back as it came from the factory.............. I was thinking most everyone on here would say the bench for sure! Surprise surprise ! ! ! ! !
