Some more info on the car. The car is all original as it ran inthe mid 60's. Drivetrain, wheels, tires, etc. The motor is from a 1958 corvette that still has the original 2 four intake. The transmission is from a 37 Lassale ford nine inch rear end. It looks to have an actual vintage race seat.

Shoulder harness and lap belt are manufactured in 1958. Gas tank is missing but inside the car on the left side is an aluminum hand pump that had a line that ran up to the tank. This was to pressurize to tank then fuel pumps or fuel release ws pulled on and fuel was then sent into the system.

The body is a 1932 Fprd Sedam which is chiopped and narrowed. Being that this was built in early 60's I'm sure the body was a solid piece when started.

The rear wheels are Ansen and the Slicks are from the day. My brother was the one who found the car. Never knew about the until a week ago. The car has been untouched and in storage since 68 or 69.

The guy I got it from had it 40 years. He has some original pictures of when it was running.

Thanks for all the great response. Will keep you updated.

    wow!! what a great find...

  18. We ran our dragster regularly at Minnesota Dragways from '63 thru '66 and I have no recollection of ever seeing that car there. We ran the grand opening of DonnyBrooke in '68 also and I don't believe it was there either.

Maybe when I see some "from back then" photos it will jog what's left of my memory. :)

  19. Wow, what a cool find. I dream about having a car like that! I too would love to see some of the older photos from back in its prime.

  20. If you don't post the old timey photos, a bunch of us will come up and slap you silly!
Seriously, the car really should be restored and preserved as it was raced in the 60's. To update would be a loss of a very interesting piece of drag racing history.

You are a very lucky guy to find a car in that condition with history. Tracking down all the history on the car is as much fun as working on it IMO. DON'T over restore it, better yet leave it as is, get the motor checked out, new tires etc. have fun with it. :)

Very cool! You should contact the Gopher State Timing Association - I believe they have a pretty good historical archive, and even if they don't have info on your car's history I'm sure they'd be interested in adding pictures of it to their files. http://www.gstarod-custom.com/gsta_home.htm
