Found This Ugly Steering Wheel in the Junkyard (w/pic)...

I found this ugly old steering wheel in the junkyard yesterday. Just wondering what it is before I toss it.

 

61 Chevy Impala?

 

One like that came from the factory in my '59 Chevy. I believe 58's and 60's were pretty much the same.
Never heard them refered to as ugly!

No, it's a 1959 Impala steering wheel. The '58 had a full ring instead of a half ring like this one. The '58 had upper and lower notches for the horn ring to pass thru but the '59 only had the notch on the lower side.

actually I would like to volunteer to recycle that for you... throwing it away would be environmentally damaging... so in the interest of nature I will handle it for you...

 

The 59 Chevy gets my vote for best looking steering wheel ever. I think you can finally get re-pops now. $$$$

 

You can finally get repops, but they suck compared to the real deal.



And yes, I know what it is. I knew what it was when I pulled it. And no, I don't think it's ugly. It's one of the most awesome steering wheels ever put into a car. And no, I'm not tossing it, lol. Especially not to Oregon, Missouri, Minnesota, Detroit, or San Jose. Just having a little fun, showing off, rubbing it in, etc.. If I really wanted to get some goats, I'd tell you what I paid for it.

I kind of want to put it in my '63 chevy truck. But I don't know if it will fit quite right aesthetically. My '63 is sort of dressed like a '60/'61 with a '61 hood and '60 grill. I've got to get the horn guts for it and see what it looks like in there.

I want lots of stuff more than this wheel. Vintage SBC 4 bbl. (holley) intake manifold with oil filler tube, awesome vintage metalflake wheel, vintage twin snorkel air filter, '58/'59 chevy truck, lots of cash, the list goes on and on. What have you got?

I have a 58 wheel with a busted ring & want to put in in my next Model A that I am collecting parts for so if there are two somebodies that have a 58 ring I need one too.

 

Say what you want, but I always thought these were kind of ugly compared to the 57 or 58 Star Chief ones, or a real beauty queen, the 59 Oldsmobile one.
