Funny but the first time I glanced at the photo it reminded me of Gary Fisher's (used to live and have the Shell Station here In Top*****h) blue chopped fenderless pickup that he had around town in the 60's except that the blue paint had been stripped off.
That one had the stock but chopped grill shell that I am pretty sure I have out in the shed now.

Sweet truck but I'd like it better if it had a real paint job on it. It has a hell of a nice flathead in it but I wouldn't say it is original in styling nor worthy of more money than the other cars that sold along side it.

Its kinda funny that the guy who bought it didnt come on the hamb and ask he was aloud to buy it. Or even what our opinion was. He must be some kind of an ***.

    Are you serious?

    Proportions? Not really

Set a trend? maybe a fad, that won't stand the test of time. That style of "Truck" is already dyeing

I go to all the shows I can get to, read a bunch of magazines and come here way more than I should. if it was at Paso I'm sure I saw it and probably even took a picture or 2.

I don't remember it at all and see nothing outstanding about it that puts it above other trucks built like that.

I think it was overpriced at $25,000.00. 50 is just plain stupid.

That's what apparently makes it worth $50k

Same I guess how the honda ricers run around with copied Altezza chrome round tail lights. My daily is an IS300 (Altezza), but unfortunately I can't sell it for $50k. :(

I don't get everybody hating on a fenderless truck, just like this example from Mr48chev, these trucks have been around for a long time, way before this truck, first truck I ever road in was a fenderless 33 ford pickup, high winding 289ci 4speed, that truck ruled and still does today, I remember several from around my area when I was a little kid in the early 70's, I know most I have ran across, that I could afford to build, the fenders were missing or fubar'ed, I see how they ended up fenderless back in the day, and today, Isn't hot rodding about taking something, parts/body/engine/******/ch***is/wheels/ etc, and building something cool out of it, with what you can afford, I like this site because of the ingenuity, the knowledge, the creative ways people build their hot rods on a budget, some of these comments seem like gold chainer late model corvette guys or fibergl*** billet streetrod guys with their little cliq's, really, that truck has none of that **** on it, it's steel & real, fenderless trucks have been around just as long as fenderless cars. I don't get the hate? Hot rodders built what they liked and could afford since hot rodding began, thats what makes them cool, especially when you do something no else has done, or bring it back. Not everyone can afford real 32 3W's Or a Real steel 41 Willys, if you can, thats cool, but it doesn't make you any better than what this guy Rudy did with his parts.
$50g's it's like it has always been, the guy or gal that has skills & a vision, builds something cool, the magazine photo's it, and prints it, says it's cool, the guy with money falling out of his *** wants it. Thinks he'll flip it down the road for a big lick. Speculators ruin it for us poor fellows, you watch old truck cabs & beds will go thru the roof now, just like anything with the word G***er attached to it.

stupid money for that truck...it is a rat rod. Landmark???? the La Jolla is a landmark, but not that truck...and the funny thing is, the "trend" you all say it started is one you all ***** about anyway...it's a shame that unfinished **** is popular and bringing more money than a well built and well known custom. I just don't get it. I'd love to hear what Harry Bradley has to say.

  17. Now every turd rodder will expect 50g plus for those ugly ****ing trucks

Wonder if he just changed out the doors and kept the OG one's with the graphic's?[/QUOTE]

No, the doors were redone. I stopped by the artist's shop when he was repainting them. (Jose Guzman) He had a pic of the original after he did them and redid pretty close.

I'm not a huge fan of the truck, but took a couple of pictures of it when I first saw it. It is one of those vehicles that kind of started the trend at the time. I think opinions and preference kind of change with the time. Back in the mid to late 90's, I kind of got interested in the more low buck look myself. As time goes on, my tastes have changed. If you could see what my 53 has looked like since buying it in 89... It has gone from bad to good to bad and so on.... What you like now may not what you like 10 years from now. I have been a huge fan of Tom Branch's roadster from the first time I saw it. Matter of fact there has been a picture of it on my fridge since 95 or 96. I didn't think it could get better... Every time I saw it, little things were being done. Now, as a finished car, I realized it can get better. The only thing better for me would be to open my garage door and see it there, but I'm not seeing that in my future. Point is, certain vehicles, while not historic will remain timeless...

A car or truck is worth what someone is willing to pay. I bet the guy that bought it has been following it forever. Its his 32 3 window. I think it's a neat truck. the price makes me want to sell my model A now.

There is a HUGE difference between an early car (or truck) without fenders and a 35 and later. Even 34's take a bit of work to make look right fenderless. By the late 30's / 40's the front end and cowl designs had changed so much that there is no flow when the fenders are dropped off.
These later truck were NOT run fenderless back in the day and they don't look right done that way now. With a ton of work they can be "OK" but for people to think that just leaving off the fenders and leaving old mis matched paint (or making fake patina) and painting some fake shop name on the door makes one of these things worth big bucks is ludicrous. If you like the style (or lack there of) fine, that's cool, but to think that type of vehicle is worth more or better than a cl***ic A-V8 or a car like the La Jolla, well that "FAD" will fade and these trucks won't be worth squat.
I hope the guy that bought it really enjoys it, because he surely will be the last high paying customer for it. IMHO

you know it takes more than one bidder to get the price to $50000. so I think if you like & it's your money good for you .

  29. I don't know if your post was aimed at any one particular post, or this thread in general. But, in general, I think a lot of us care. Although most are less vocal than I am. And, it does matter, again to a lot of us, most less vocal than me. I'll leave it at that out of respect for your PM to me the other day.

  30. Looks like a whole bunch of people care. And it is a matter of fact:p
