I think they only work on vechicals that have a vertical a-pillar, not a slant cab.

Could always unmount a door, then get someone to hold it as you take pictures of it open and opening at different angles. Would tell you a lot.

I have never seen one I like, but I'm not gonna say it's impossible to pull it off...

  7. You won't be the first guy to do it. Just pick up a fist full of 1970 Street Rodder mag's and you'll find several examples. Before starting this project you need to add a Corvett to your driveway, buy 20' of Gold Neck Chain and grow a Mullet. When you attend your first event in the finished Sedan you'll be the most talked about Ride there (you may not want to listen to closly). Don't worry, some Young Guy will buy it from you and fix it.

Yeah he's right. But that dont mean it cant be done with cl*** on a model A. But if you do it, and don't flush fit your doors I think it would give it a little more cool factor keeping the model A appearance when closed up...John

Thanks man! Not too worried..The bones are sleeved so they're plenty strong. The axle is fine, theres plenty out there drilled with no problems. It will be replaced with a dropped original axle soon but I'm gonna drill that one too. :)

I saw a 30 coupe at goodguys today with suicide doors. Looked weird, and kinda pointless.... and yes it was very much a street rod.

I did some measuring on a Model A Coupe, long time ago.

It was a Streetrod, and the owner wanted hidden hinges as well.

If I remember correctly, the main problem was with the way the body gets narrower near the bottom.

So to keep a reasonable distance between the top & bottom hinge, you'd have to tilt the hinge center line to follow the shape of the body
( which makes the car look like a wounded seagull, when the doors are open )
Or, to keep the centerline near vertical, you'd have to push the top hinge way in
( which gets it in the way of the Driver and P***enger )
You could do it with outside hinges, but then the lower hinge would stick out pretty far...

I ended up putting the hidden hinges on the front of the door.

There was a '29 sedan for sale in Midland back in the spring that was changed to suicide doors. I thought it looked ok, but that didn't mean I wanted it. Seemed like a lot of work to please so few.
