I thought some of the minneapolis area HAMB members might be interested in this!! Dan Pate has opened his shop(barn) to Metalmeet and HAMB members October 23-25. It's a great opertunity to learn, or share metalshaping knowledge. There are usually a few projects going on throughout the three days. I'm bringing my '36 Ford fender bucks, and some other equipment along. It's a good time!! Jeff
I've always thought one of those meets would be invaluable to learn from some talented shapers. I'll check and see if I can make it. thanks for posting. Frank
why is it always in the middle of nowhere in a snow bank? I wish there was one near here i would love to go to something like that.
You guys need to go to www.MetalMeet.com and check out the local meets. There are meets in both of your areas. The Dutch Comstock meet is one of the best, in the northeast. And down in the south there are meets throughout the year. It's tough here in the midwest. Events like this are few and far between, and this is a good one.
Am I missing something? I went to the site under "events" and they only have 2008 events posted?? Cant find a schedule of upcoming events.
You have to register there first. then scroll down a bit and you will see a post entitled: International MetalMeet events That will take you here: http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=63
Were you expecting to see something like this? If so get ahold of me and let me know if you are coming.I have alot of tools and equipment and others also share and bring theres.Dyce usually shows with a truck load and I have friends that show with usually2-3 E-Wheels.Kerry from Imperial Wheeling Machines hasnt got a chance to get to one up here but last fall it almost looked like one of his displays.alot of fun and lots to learn and share.
All I can find is Metalmeet 2009 in Oblong, Il I really feel stupid but I cannot find anything on the Dennison, MN meet??
No don't feel that way. It's a little tough to get. There really isn't a registration, or a fee. Dan just would like it if people would let him know you are coming by posting in this thread on HAMB, or the thread on MM http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13498 The "Fee" is a freewill donation to help cover food and materials. Dan puts alot into this. The food is great and if you don't learn anything you must not have been there. Jeff
For you guys and gals who haven't been to one, they are low key, no hard sell of tools, equipment and no salesmen will call. What do you need to do? Well let the person or persons know your coming, don't forget to bring your safety equipment, like welding gloves, hearing protection, welding shield. Each one is different so what equipment and projects vary greatly from one event to another. If you don't have one in your area, start one! If you need some help with planning let me know, I'll work with you to keep you on the right track, lots of little things that can slow you down. We do these for fun not profit and you will find new friends, maybe even come across an old one. Maybe someone famous like ....... Clark will show up!!!! Take care! tt
I'll be there again this year . I'm the person on the left at last years meet. Last year I made the front valance for my 54F100 Custom, plus repaired a rear fender. This year the front fenders and the doors hopefully will get done.
For the East coast guys, there is Dutch's 'meet in Herkimer, New York and the Gator 'meet (if he's doing one next year) in Maryland. For the Southern folks, Kerry Pinkerton (of Imperial wheeling Machines) usually has a springtime meet in the Huntsville, Alabama area. Among others, Rick Madera and Tony Sanchez have meets out in Cali. Sure, the midwest has plenty of meets each year, but we got nothing else to do here! Oblong is always worth the trip! I may not make it, but I still recommend it! Tim D.
Thanks Tim!! Good reply. I havn't had much time online latly. I've been trying to get caught up. I think it was Rick Madera's last meet Covell was at wasn't it? It looked like a great meet. The Dutch Comstock meet it one I've always wanted to go to. The midwest though. It covers to much ground. The southern midwest has the most meets I'd say. North of Kansas City is preaty dry. I've been thinking about having another meet. If I had a meet and somone in the Rapid City area had a meet it would close the gap between Rick Tucker and me......
Just a couple days. I'm bringing my big black e-wheel, my model a axle e-wheel, the bag stand and 36 fender bucks. Good time!!! Jeff
Is there any kind of schdule? I can't come, but it sounds interesting and I'll forward the info to my dad who doesn't live too far away.
Loading the truck. Any tool requests? http://www.metalmeet.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=3555 Jeff
