I'm not trying to be critical, sorry. It just looked close the headlight buckets.

Ya know, I think you may be correct on that...I couldn't get a good view of it...I just KNEW they were not '54...

And the pic of the other car, with the gorgeous Dagmars laying on the ground...well, those real chromed "bumpers" are on a '55 Cadillac...I'm afraid I'd have to hazard a guess on the model year of those on the ground...but they certainly look more recent than 1955...!!!

It's lookin good right now. I think it will depend on what you use for a grill.

    A DAGMAR BEDTIME STORY. .....History

As car guys we see a rod or custom we like and it hits us IMMEDIATELY! It’s the stance, the style, and the attitude of a vehicle that has us gawking as it goes by. We even stand on our tiptoes so we can keep looking till it goes out of sight around the
    corner.
Like a pair of vise grips to the groin, few things can grab our attention like a beautiful car… or a beautiful woman. Let’s face it, it’s the same dumb glazed look we get when either go past. Somewhere in the back of our heads, the two sorta’ melt
together in that spot of the brain that is reserved for indelible experiences.
The great car designers of the 50’s knew this. The Harley Earls, Brooks Stevens, and Harry Westergards had that classic form internalized. The curve of a 56 Cadillac fin and the line of a woman’s waist and hip. The style and grace of Audrey Hepburn and the corresponding air of a Buick convertible at speed. For any who doubt the relationship look no further than Dagmars - those large bullet-shaped chrome grille finials on 56 Caddies and other full bodied 50’s classics.
Virginia Lewis, the quintessential 1950’s buxom dumb blonde was known to every American serviceman simply as “Dagmar.” She even had her own TV show back in the days when Phil Silvers ruled the airwaves, and there were only 3 channels on the tube.
Yes, those chrome accoutrements were named for none other than our Ginny. It’s over a half century later, and while few remember Ginny “Dagmar” Lewis, we still hear the term “Dagmar” used to describe those automotive adornments.
Those beautiful, full, shapely, firm... uh .. Story time is over. Now go to bed.

If you've already one some body work, adding 2 inches of metal to the front fender in order to lower the bumper wouldn't be a huge deal...

It would help if you could set the hood on it...if it isn't such a huge effort/problem...

Looks great! I like the progress you've made so far. Keep us posted. I would use something simple for the grill, nothing too busy. '58-'59 Buick, maybe?

Looks good, The hood will help for sure. Worst case, lower the valance a bit and the front fenders.

I like it too, a single olds grill bar would look sweet in there...just one though!

Looks great, but I think the bumper is a bit to high.

    Two solutions.
1- thinning the bar above the grille opening (but that will not solve it I think)
    2- mount the bumper lower.

The front look is not the only thing important. When you look at it from the side the bumper should not sit to high either otherwise you will ruin the lines.

Do you have a photo from the side showing how the bumper sits now?
