Ok save the flames for something else.cause i dont give a f*&k. so here is my question how do i fit a 1936 Ford Flat back onto an S10 frame.Or better yet which s10 should i use? I am buying the 35 but have several s10 mostly 90`s. I want to slide the body over the frame then add air ride all around.what is involved in this or is there already a step by step on this subject.i did the search but nothing on my specific. I would only like the ones who have done this to their car to help me... I know not traditional but that is not what i wanna build. blahh blahh. This what i want mine to ride like...low and fuckin slow....

I'm interested in this too. I found an old full fendered 1932 Ford that I want to do the same thing to. You know, get rid of all the old unreliable shit.

Every time I see someone considering this kind of swap I have to wonder if they ever bothered to actually *look* under the S10 first. The S10 frame bows out right at the cowl just like a Monte Carlo, Impala, Chevelle, you name it every GM car from about the mid-60s on the rails make just about a 90' turn under the cowl out to the fender and turn again to run along the rocker panels. It's not as extreme on the S10, there's actually some room between the frame rail and the rocker, but it's still too fucking wide there for most '30s era cars. And that doesn't even get into the fact they get wide again ahead of the front wheels and have to be trimmed and reshaped there for a fat fendered car. And by the time you cut that shit out and weld in some straight box rail sections you could have either just as easily built an entire frame from scratch that doesn't look like ass and actually fits your car. I know the mid-30's Ford frames are rot prone and using what you have seems like a good idea, but you might want to take a step back, see if you can find a good 35-40 frame, and swap or sell off a halfway decent S10 to pay for it. I don't know about Florida but up here whatever it is about S10s they seem to not exist for sale much below $750, because I've watched for one for a beater for a long time. The couple I've seen for $500 or so sold in a matter of days. So you sell one and for that money you aught to be able to find something that works. Know of any goldchainer street rod shops? See if you can find someone having a car built with a 1-800-hot-rod aftermarket frame and offer to buy their original. If that seems like too much work or you need to start building the car yesterday, then sell an S10 and buy some steel and build one from scratch. Use an S10 front crossmember and rearend if you must. Maybe use pieces of the S10 rails to get an arched kickup for the rear axle without having to try to bend your new stock somewhere. But I'd try to track down a frontend that either will take a rack and pinion or otherwise puts the steering box behind the front wheels. Simpler than trying to use the front steer box from the S10 where there's not much room for it. And if you don't want to fab up a center frame X, a lot of other cars use something similar you could hack out of a junker - 49-57 Pontiac, 53-58 Buick, 57-58 Olds, probably lots of others but those are ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I think you entirely missed my point, but somehow I'm not surprised. Just the other day on here a guy wanted to know what to offer his buddy for the complete chassis, or the running gear, from a '40 tudor, with a running 2-pot flatty in it, because the buddy was going to go all Mustang-II and 1-800-billet-me on the car. I suggested the stuff was worth $1000-$2000 without seeing it. If you can get a stock rolling chassis for $1000 or so, and get half that out of an S10, is the savings of welding rod/supplies, steel, and labor worth the other $500? Or does your time have no value to you. Looking for parts is supposed to be part of the fun of building a car. If it was as easy as throwing an S10 frame under any old body, there'd be a "hot rod" on every block. Actually an XJ front suspension and an S10 or Monte Carlo rearend might be the way to go and just build the frame rails and center crossmembers yourself, if that's what you're set on is a late model type suspension. Hell, maybe the XJ rear would work too. I've advocated the Jag as a 49-54 Chevy option for a long time as a low-buck alternative to mustang-II kits that eliminates the need to cut up the stock frame.
i have time...and supplies so i will take your advise and hopefully others good or bad and make a decision based on what works and what doesnt. I really appriciate your time man it means alot.Thanks.

The biggest thing on an S10 is the steering box location..It's really far ahead and will probably interfere with the fenders...But that being said I have seen 40 ford trucks mounted on them..

I used a ranger chassis on a 48 chev before...steering box is not in the way like an s10...the twin I beams rode really nice and you can get droppes ones as well.....the newer ones have trad a arms and a rack & pinion , seen front clip from a newer one under a 46 pick up looked really slick...just some extra food for thought
squigy sorry.. but I just dont think it will work.. s10 + early ford = UGLY and just in case you think you might ever "resell" this 36 (wink wink) putting a s10 chassis under it will certainly remove all value the car could ever have.. additionally I would bet that an s10 wouldnt likely get the car as low as you want.. just for comparison. both my 40's are stock frame (no notch) with bags mounted to 67 -72 chevy truck trailing arms in the rear.. both are mustang II up front with bags.. both are on 15 inch wheels with 215's up front.. the biggest problem with this situation is exhaust clearance.. (both my cars have exhaust UNDER the running boards. the coupe is a different story.. but you know about that..

Sguigy you can also look into early mopar frames from this same era they are similar but have a straight axle set up that is parrallel leafs in the front that you can get rid of and put a mustang II in but the nice thing is they have parrallel leaf set up in the rear that can be lowered with a set of blocks. I am almost sure they would be alot cheaper that a ford frame.
