S-10 won't work on a 35-36. The main reason is the steering box out front will interfere with the front fender. It is also too wide at the cowl area. It will work fine under a 1940 and up ford as the fenders have enuff clearance. Pat.
No it was your cute puppy dog in your avitar that did it...What a cool looking dog! He has that are "you fuckin stupid" look on his face...
Not sure if this is still available. It's up near Orlando. Tim http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/1366434497.html
My original frame was crap... bent, welded, twisted etc. I saved my money for a while, returned some soda bottles for their deposit, had a couple garage sales...and eventually had enough scraped together for a FatManFab 35-40 "builder special" bare frame. That was the best thing I did in regards to making my sedan a real driver.
i just got done trying to put a 38' ford truck on one and seeing that 35'-40' car and truck frames interchange it is a bad choice dude! anyone that wants to argue the point with me is a real hack. the front taper of s10 frame is opposite and damm steering box is right in the way. check out my photo albums and see. like you said it's your car!
sorry to see so many jerkoffs on here. Squigy was asking for honest help, I wouldn't use an s10 frame in that situation, but that doesn't make him an asshole for thinking about doing it. If you don't have something constructive to offer, why not keep your trap shut for those that do....
the point is that a hamber with enough posts to know how things work asked an ot queston and stated that he knew hed get flamed, but wanted a real ansewer to his question. a few people jumped in and flamed him, but the ansewer to his question was provided. end of story, good luck with the new frame squigy.
squigy, Just saw this thread, heres my reply: Im building a 40 pickup ( basically the same chassis as under a 35 passenger car ) on a S10 chassis. Is it traditional? HELL NO, Is it a good fit around the cowl area? HELL NO, Is there steering box and radiator interference? HELL YES, Will it work? DEFINATELY, Is it a cheap way to get on the ground and have a decent riding vehicle? YOU BET. I know I will catch hell for posting this from the traditional guys, and I understand, but it is a way to use what you got to get the look your after. That said squigy I pretty much got everything figured out on my swap, if your still considering using a S10 chassis you can pm and I will try and help. Heres my photobucket site with some build pics: Later, Billy http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/j...og37/?start=60
