Death of a Custom

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by crash 51, Oct 7, 2009.

  1. hey man sorry about the car but like others have said at least nobody was hurt or killed.. this thread said "death of a custom" but this can give you a chance to make it "rebirth of a custom".. do her justice on the rebuild and it will rise from the ashes like a Phoenix

  2. Ouch! That SUCKS!!! Please don't let it be the DEATH of a custom! How about the LAID UP IN THE HOSPITAL of a custom...

Had a similar thing happen years ago - A guy who was driving on a suspended license and no insurance runs a red light and right into the driver's door of my wife's truck (luckily it was a big ol' 70's Dodge and took the hit pretty well). The cop that "investigated" the accident wouldn't write the guy a ticket for any of the three offenses, and spent more time making sure that the dirtbag was ok than making sure that my wife was ok! Of course our insurance company dropped us right away, and we TRIED to sue the bastard, but he lived in a crackerbox apartment and didn't own anything worth taking. He walked away scot free without paying anybody a dime, and we had to pay to get the truck fixed out of our own pocket! We paid a LOT more for insurance for years after that because of the "incident" on our record.

But I do have to mention that there are plenty of people out there (rodders included, unfortunately) who will brag about how f***ed up that they got when they were out at so and so car show, and how they "don't remember" how they got home from the bar after the show... and there are plenty of us who won't call them out and call them idiots in front of their friends. Why is being that kind of an idiot "cool" anyway???

drunks are idiots. here locally a mom and her boyfriend got sloshed at a restaraunt with her 13 year old son. they had several DUI's between them and decided to let the 13 year old drive while they sat in the back seat making out.

kid didn't want to do it and eventually got scared and just stopped in the middle of the street. a cop came along and now Mom and boyfriend are in jail. they were both double the legal limit for driving.

Guy that worked for me got hit by a drunk twice in the same parking spot. Took away the company truck at that point, and his own truck got hit a third time! Each time by a drunk, each time no insurance, each time the cars were totaled, one even flipped over. Thankfully, he's not here any more...Glad he wasn't using something I cared about.

Holy crap. Man do I feel bad for you. When I had my shoebox I always looked at yours for inspiration. It has damn near perfect stance, chop, and subtle touches. I'll bee looking around and If I find any spares leftover from mine, you are more than welcome to them.

  9. What! didn't your daily just get totaled in the street.
    That sucks, sorry Jason.

that sucks, I myself and two other friends were almost killed by a drunk driver when I was like 18. I saw his ass swerving towards me and luckily was able to go around his dumbass as he neared my car. Luckly the street was empty and he probably made it home without killing anyone else

  12. I'd sue the drunken bastard for everything he has! I wouldn't care if he had kids to feed, or if he lost his job, or what it cost him. I'd make his life so damn miserable for years, just for the revenge aspect, if nothing else!

I've lost several friends to drunk driving m-f'ers, and have ZERO patience for their bullshit excuses and actions. Make that sonofabitch so miserable and so broke, he wished he'd got killed, instead of survived the crash.

Just goes to show us all. Don't ever park your car on the street. You never know what crazy/stupid/drunk/high shit for brains is going to come ripping down your street with little or no regard for the kids playing or the rad custom parked at the curb. Makes me sick.

Go to Hagerty.com, you can insure your car with a few clicks & pics. It's chaeper than regular liability that only insures the other guy. It's around $400-$500 per year for 25k-30k in coverage! with towing too!
Best of luck on the rebuild!

Damn, that's a shame, that was a nice car. I give you credit for your restraint, but I personally think it should be legal to beat a drunk driver to death right there at the scene of his crime.

Sucks...I've never been in a wreck with someone that had a license or insurance...they own nothing, so have nothing to lose
