I just got a 26 T roadster over the weekend form some guy in my hometown. The story was told to me about a Father bought this roadster for his son in Feb 1955 from a guy in Fremont Ne. The car was to be a graduation gift. The boy graduated 3 month later. The day after the boy graduated he was to drive the car from Nebraska to Indianapolis. As the story go’s he was hit by another car from behind the impact throw the boy from the roadster, this happened somewhere in Iowa. The boy died from the accident.
So as the story go’s the father left Nebraska and headed to Iowa, he brought a trailer to load the car on the on. The car ended up back in Nebraska were it was kept. The car sat from that day in 1955 on a trailer in woods on the farm. When the Father p***ed away in the year 2008 some of the family members wanted the car stuff to go to the right people…”people that would do the right thing with it”.

The story continues on with the boy having this car, he was able to run it up and down the streets of the neighboring towns "hot rodding it". People today still were talking about it when they would hear about the car. Some people in town knew about this car since 1955 and have been trying to buy it from the Father of the boy since the early 1960’s

The roadster is all stock for the most part. It still has the T 4cyl..but it has the ohv’s head and a down draft carburetor and the cast iron header. It still has the T Trans and rear end. The motor is lockup at this point so I’m working on that now..trying to free up and take the motor apart as I go.

There are numbers of OHV or F-head setups which were available for the 09-27 Ford Ts.
    Is it a Roof?

The head is set up without a valve cover so the sring etc are exposed.
I have not seen any #'s on the head at this point but I'm looking.

Is Roof a name of a head?

I may have found out the car may have the Ruckstell Axle on it also. Is this stuff common for the model T?

The old car should be happy about it's new life. I'm happy for you. I'll make a road trip with the 34 some night this week. I read on here somewhere that you should talk to it real nice and tell it not to be afraid. Haunted cars or something like that. Don't get rid of anything till you have researched it very carefully. 15. Roof made a few heads for the T- could be an 8 valve or one of two 16 valve heads that he produced...

not to be a nag, but pics would clear EVERyTHING up:D

that is very cool. And a great story to go with it. I hope that you can free up the engine. how is the body? and the frame? was it wrecked badly? I would love to hear it run!

The engine is coming along, I've got the head off and the cly walls have some lite rust and I've got pb blaster in the cly's at this point. The rocker's need to be freed up on the rocker shafts etc. the trans grears etc look good no rust etc. the Ruckstell rear end seems to be moving freely. As far as the body there is rust in the commom places for roadsters. the lert rear fender is bend up badly and the left querter planel is bent up but can be easly fixed. The Frame looks to be ok at this point.

The pic's are getting developed so hope to have them posted today.

Make sure you post on the Banger thread as well- you shouldhave an answer quickly.

My guess is Roof or Morton & Brett.

I think that the head is a Frontenac 8-valve, either an S, R, or T, depending on compression ratio.

looks like you're right to me. not an R as it doesn't have the "special racing exhaust manifold" which came out straight instead of dropping down before going back like this one does.

    VERY cool find!!

Excellent observation. However, the "special racing exhaust manifold" was only standard when ordering a complete R engine. It was optional when ordering just the head (see the note on page 26, #212, in the catalog).
