Well done. We can all appreciate the financial stress of a deal like this, but if you took a pass because of the money, you would be living with a serious case of remorse for letting it get away. Every time I got cold feet and flaked on an opportunity like this, I've regretted it. When I did step up and closed the deal, I never gave a second thought to the money factor later. I don't think you can go wrong with this car ... people will line up to buy if you decide to cash out. As the saying goes "I didn't pay too much. I just bought too soon!"

Congrats on finally getting it. I've sweated out those last couple of day deals and they are no fun. Get it cleaned up and see if you can get it runing. It would be so cool if your able to drive it around before going through it completely. At least it would get the inspiration to a level that would see you through until it is DONE to your vision. I managed to get about four hours of sleep last night. Stayed in the garage till 1am playing and had to be back up at 5. Now I'm on a two day airport tour of Ohio so I won't get to see her again till late Thursday. Hopefully I can get more information when I get back or post a video of it actually running here in the next couple weeks. Thanks for all of the well wishing and shared anxiety with me.

can't get this car off my mind (not that i'm trying all that hard), , , i can't imagine what it must be like for you to have that thing sitting in your driveway, , , i'd sell my soul in a hearbeat for that car and still feel like i was ripping you off, , , all i can say is that you must have been making pretty regular deposits into the "first national bank of karma" to have gotten that car,,,still in awe here!!!,,,,,,,,
Scoob, I pay like $200/year to cover mine with Hagerty, and you know what I have it covered for approx based on our conversation the other day. My Dad has the 5 window right now. Maybe he can drive over there.
I have my Model T with State Farm and since I drive under 500 miles a year it cost me under 100 a year. If you can get a copy of the appraisle that was done for the seller, that should work for Grundy or Haggerty- both good operations and both easy to work with.
the new hood really helps. that radiator sticking up was really bothering me. Kind of a shame to hide that engine but it isn't reeeeally hidden. I can't wait to get back home to it and try to get it running. In another karmic cruel joke, my wife found out today that she might be getting "outsourced" from Eli Lilly after eight years. That would really suck right now. Literally one day after I strap us for cash! We might all have to live in this car soon.

Ron, I have watched you get some really kool stuff over the years and not said much about you unloading them. BUTT.......if you get gone on this I will personally get 10 of the biggest, baddest, ugliest , orca betties I can find to set on you until you holler "uncle". You finally hit the pot 'o' gold buddy, and if I can assist you in any way, you got my number. You are what I call "livin' the dream" the rest of us only have.
Just had to get a glimpse of your pics again; reminds me so much of my "time capsule". Try to get as much of the history as possible. On another note, there have been a couple of recent threads re fan clearance for the early Olds in a '36. Since I had just pulled the motor out of mine, I could not take any pics to offer. When you get a chance, would you take a couple of pics of the fan area and FRONT of the valve covers in relation to the fenders to show how tight the Olds fits. (You already have a good shot of the REAR of the right v-cover in relation to the firewall.) ENJOY! Thanks, Robb
You know, aside from the wife's job, I must be living okay right now. I just took two days off to do some work for a friend and he is going to make some money on this little venture but we never made a deal as to how I'd be paid. He's one of those guys were you can settle up on the end of a deal to make sure it's fair for everyone. I trust him completely. Today we were talking about possible compensation and he mentioned something that perked my ears up quite a bit. A Model A five window. He said it's been in the barn forever and needs all the usual patch panels but it's all there except for the hood. I'm going to look at it tomorrow morning. I happen to have that 498 inch Lincoln 430 stroker motor sitting in the garage that was always too big for everything I've ever owned...except maybe a model a 5 window coupe with no hood. This might end up being the best car week of my life. Now...if I could just find another 1000 horse Turbonique drag axle....
