Have you ever heard of a little something called double jeopardy?

Have you ever heard of something called "citation at time of offense"?

Have you ever heard of this little thing called police harassment?

As a lawyer [yes I am], I'm sitting here DROOLING at the thought of landing a case like this. My GOD did that cop ever fuck up!!!

Never met a cop I liked. Then again, I don't like alot of people. Example:

never answer the door when a cop is outside. the chances of it ending well are slim to none.

Yeah, imagine that, a european making a moral equivalence argument, what a surprise.

A parking ticket is just as bad as dealing drugs.

How about this?: It's an abuse of power to ticket for $190 bucks for parking and then fubar the whole process and expect the citizenry to just take it. We have a long history of fighting the man while you have a long history of having the man rule your ass mercilessly.

You ought to appreciate this, she didn't do everything alles in ordnung, she went outside the procedure and is trying fuck someone to cover her tracks. There is a level of incompetence there and she needs to pay for it. Maybe these kind of Sturm Abteilung tactics are okay with you, but that shit doesn't fly here.

I don't buy a parking ticket being $190 anywhere, it's abuse. All of this piety about being honest with the cops goes two ways. Otherwise allowing abuse of authority spawns more of it.

I'm no anarchist, and I actually do have a healthy respect for the law, but I have no tolerance at all for this kind of BS from the man.

okay...so this ticket was for parking the wrong way in front of your house...which is not marked to do not park. I'm just amazed that they gave you a ticket for this anyway. I understand it is illegal to park the wrong way and for good reasons...but jeez...190 bucks. And unless you are a repeat offender you should of just got a warning. Yes I would be pissed and I would fight it.

Yeah...this somehow brings Godwin's law into play here. Too tired to flesh out the connection...
The abuse of an official form here probably at least approaches criminality in itself. I think bringing a lawyer to court to blow the thing as high out of the water as possible in a single shot would be worth the price.

I hope they see the dates on the tickets between those two. I hope you take it all to court.

How about calling (or going to) the station during the day (she seems to have the night shift) and asking what to do.. you were given a citation, but lost the paperwork, cop came asking for the paperwork, you informed her nicely you lost it, she wrote you a new citation for the offense from the previous day and backdated it, but now.. you've found the old one.. officer (sergeant would be even better) what do I do now? do I pay the first one, the second one, both or none at all?

  13. The real crime here is $190.00 parking ticket.

As far as cops breaking rules and laws.... well lets face facts here, they are just humans like us. Capable of all the valor and SINS of regular folks. That means they can make mistakes, lye or break laws just like the rest of us. She's doin' all three.

Cover yer ass.... this one will go the harassment root....

Too many cops start to think THEY ARE the LAW, instead of law enforcement.

Oh yeah... Hey Sprocket(?) you lost credibility when you compared parking tickets with drug dealing.

    Good Luck H

  15. Hmmm, do they input the basic information into the computer when they issue tickets these days? If they do, then I don't see why they can't give you the same ticket again. I'd call the cop shop and ask some questions.

I'd go with the suggestion of fighting it and taking the original ticket to court. I believe you can't have lawyers in vehicle infractions court.

Yeah, $190 is ridiculous for a parking ticket.

I'm a European(British) and an ex-cop.Agree with you 100%.The cop fucked up and appears to be digging a fucking big hole for herself. What for?A minor traffic offence. That's bullshit,I wouldn't pay it on principle and would fight it all the way.

I agree that the burden of proof is on the cop and the second ticket well I just do not get that at all. The above statement from a lawyer does not surprise me... Even knowing the facts the staement was deny deny deny.

Havent you got a gun like most Americans? Blow her fuckin head off then ask questions.
Seriously, $190 does seem a lot for the offence, but you did it. Now why not man up and pay the fine. We all make mistakes, She made a couple, but to me you have already wasted 190 bucks worth of energy on this shit, want to spend more looking over you shoulder? Go to the station and seek their advice, surely they are not all turkeys, and see what they say. Save yourself a lot of grief.
Read somewhere recently "dont be direspectful to Bruce Lancaster", well mate when you start to put shit on other nationalitys, you got to remember "people in glass houses.........."
Also thought this was a NON racist, religious or political site.
So pay the bloody fine, feel good cause you helped somebody out of a jam. Its called KARMA. All my opinion only.
Now let all the keyboard cowboys loose !!

If she can royaly f/u a parking ticket and keep trying to cover her tracks, just imagine what a quality job she does on something more complicated. You owe it to your fellow citizens to bring it to the attention of those who supervise her.

Here is the only advice you need. It is not my advice but the advice of my friends (cops) and family (cops) and other friends (lawyers) and coworkers (lawyers):

DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE!!!!!

If cops want to talk to you, they are only interested in making a case against you.

Don't lie to them. Don't yell at them. Just don't talk to them.

"I'm sorry, officer, but I really don't have anything to say at this time."

You MUST however identify yourself. That part is OK. But nothing after that.

Again: no lies, just no words. If they press you or threaten you, then call a lawyer.

tear the tickets up and put them in a plastic zip lock bag. Take a picture of herwalking back up to your front door and do not answer. Immediatly go get a crooked attorney. (Come on you live in LV). Go with your attorney down to the local precinct and cry rape. She forced you to do sexual acts in exchange for HER tearing up the ticket.
Settle out of court ,take the money and go buy another hot rod. Fuck her!

Go down to Fifth&Stewart and ask to speak to someone in Internal Affairs, tell them the story and I'll bet they will get it ironed out.
