...there is a small market right down at the main intersection where you turn to go to the airfield...not sure if it will be open or not...usually is on saturdays.

You could probably get something in Firebaugh as well. I think over at Nees Ave and I-5 there is a gas station/mini mart on the west side of the highway.

    Gentlemen,

I should point out that if you plan to be at the field during dusk you will want to be well armed against mosquitos. I'm talking at least a baseball bat. :D

All kidding aside, the evening mosquito squadrons put the old British ones to shame. So be inside, be netted or be eaten. Even the UFOs leave there at dusk.

Our bags are packed and ready to throw in the truck and head north tomorrow morning. It won't be long now!!

Camped at the field on the "California Air Tour", Fourth of July weekend of 1986, our first trip after we got our Aeronca Champ.......slept under the wing, no tent and damn near got carried off by the buggers.

I just got back from there and made an illegal run in the 32....old short track but surprisingly smooth....Rocky and family and all the volunteers has done an awesome job of dressing the place up....I love the row of Amereican flags....the museum is cool also....don't miss it guys.

What a perfect day!!! Easily the BEST event I have been to..... I would love to see this be an annual event. I was speaking to the gentleman that "mans" the museum and he said the property was privately owned. Huge thanks goes out to the property owner, all promoters, organizers, all the guys who got the cool STAFF tshirts, everyone involved.

    And you'll notice it's a NAVY plane!! :D:D

Sorry you didn't get to make that run today Skip, you sure looked swell in that firesuit!

My whole family and I had a blast! I would like to thank everyone who had anything to do with this. I would love to see this thing be an annual event. Maybe a few things to tweak, but over all, by far the most fun I have ever had at the races...

And let me just say, I dont know who's yellow 55 Shoe that was, but that thing was wicked!:cool:

If you do it again next year, I would love to volunteer some time to help staff, even if it is in the parkinglot.
