Hey fellas, my name is Drew. I've got a question for you all. The wife and I purchased a Buick Special from the owner of a rod shop around here, who had it in pretty great condition, and had done some stuff with it. He had started on the rewiring of it changing it over to a 12 v system, and lowered it as well. Over the last week, with some help, I got it all wired up and running pretty strong. Naturally, we've been cruising her around whenever we get the chance. Only problem is that the suspension is just about nonexistent... I've been really considering air ride, cuz I love the low look... but I'm afraid it's not doing the car, or my back, any favors bashing around all the time... Any insight at all would be appreciated! I'll post pictures soon too. (oh, and if anyone knows of any good sources for parts, etc. for these particular cars let me know please) Thanks much
Well if you do decide on going with air ride its not going to be throwing you all over the place. That all depends on your size lines, valves, and psi your running. stick with 3/8 and 145-175 or maybe 200 psi and u'll be fine. I haven't bagged a 50 but I did a 59 buick last year and am about to do my 59 soon and the 59 was straight forward on installation. We cut the old springs out trimmed down some s-10 cups I believe they were out of and the front layed without cutting any inner fenders out. The back was barely c-notched and we threw some bags in place of the back coil springs and she sat flat like it seemed she was ment to be.
