Kerry, neat looking car, looks like an early Dragmaster that will pass modern tech...nice job.

  2. That's the goal Hugh. My welder friend thinks we might be able to get it certified to 7.50 but that seems a bit hopefull to me. We'll see.

This followed me home last week. I have no idea of who built this one.
185" W.B. The body work is junk. It has a nicely upholstered seat that is made from an aluminum highway sign. I did get a load of useable parts and pieces. Included a Schmidt Racing Transmissions built 'glide and converter, a Brunoglide 2 speed lenco setup, SBC zoomies, a '63 283 truck block, and a 354 Chrysler block, crank and heads. motor plates for both the chevy and the hemi. and the coupler. It has a 8 3/4" rearend with unknown gear ratio but has what appears to be a set of resplined stocker axels and studes that are to short for the lug nuts. I'd be a fool if I asumed that the rear has a spool. I'd guess it's just welded spyders.
This is another dragster that I don't fit in. (at 6'5" I don't fit many). I'm a sucker for FEDs, especially if the price is right.

  10. My dad works at Speedway Motors. He found a Kellison 'chute pack body mold and this catalog there. I guess he pulled one body out of the mold before the mold went to sh!t.

Roger, I saw Pete Eastwood arrive at the Reunion with that chassis. It is a three radius rod fuller car with the tie rod on top. He wanted to get Fuller to take a look at it, I don't know out come. Jack Brady, AKA Church Key

It is a very old practice/belief that a tig welded moly chassis must be stress relieved or annealed.

It is no longer a common practice as over the years they have found that it isn't any more necessary than with a mild steel chassis.

Molly wasn't created with gas welding in mind. It was created to be a weight saver. You don't have to use as heavy a piece of molly to bear the same load. Gas welding was just the most common type of welding at the time. When the fellas started heli-arc welding molly it was assumed that you would have the same problems as with stick welding and that is why it was believed that all welds must be stress relieved.

    Edit:
OK I'm not going to delete my post because I'm just not. But I wasn't aware that I jumped in the middle of a pissing match so you fellas work it out somehow and disregard my words if they don't follow your way of thinking.

I hope you fellas get it worked out so we don't loose this thread. I would like time to dig through it before it goes away.

Here's one we did a few years ago, added over 40' of tubing to make it so we could run it. Looks like some of the nostalgia classes are finally coming around so some of these cars can be run as is, (Was). Sounds like a good thing.

This is my front motor mounts I made. I know that the front motor mounting tabs were welded on, but I wanted them like this for sliding the motor out easier. I used some leftover 1.375 x .058 cut in half and a tab out of .125 CM sheet. The clamp is a Stainless 3/4'' wide hydralic clamp. The late model Fuelers use this method and since it is under and behind the block tab of the motor, it is hard to see.

My Woody Chassis on the Frame Jig. This was the first type of front axle assembly that came out of Woody's shop with the design help of Paul Sutherland.
