sooo many chevs in fords, any ford mills in chevy cars or trucks.? i just bought a 1950 gmc truck, and i have a 428 on standby. mmmmm. should i ?
someone posted a pic on here I think of a corvette with a flathead V8 in it. kind of weird but definitely a head turner. go for it with the 428, it could possibly make the chevy a little interesting at least.
i've seen a few in the 56 years i have spent on this earth, including a guy i know with a `61 chevy C-10 with a 302 ford...just doesn't seam right
I had a 460 in my non HAMB Vega for a while. Then a 455 Pontiac and then a 392 and now a Packard V8. Before the V8 motors I had a GMC in it. Vegas don't care.
A few years ago at the Big Bear meet there was a flawless, black I think '57 Chevy with a big block Ford, 428 Cobra Jet maybe- I really don't remember except that it was blatently badged, spotless, clean install. I can't imagine the fun the guy had with that.
who cares what it is,...if it's the stuff you have,, then jam it together and have some fun with it !! that's how hot rodding got it's roots !!!
I'd say use what you have available. If you have a 428 ready to go, why not?? If you have a 350/350, that will work too. And believe me, I would be the LAST guy in the world that would do that. But, I am a guy that will use what I have for a project, even if it may irritate the masses. Everybody told me I was crazy to put a y-block in my 53 12 years ago, but it was what I had ready to go. Never looked back...
Agreed!I had a 63 chevy pickup with a 429 ford in it and currently have a 53 pontiac housecar with a 289 ford in it and am putting a 66 327 chevy in a 1930 model a sedan!?
I saw one of the Pinks All Out episodes and there was a guy with a 78 Camaro with a big block ford and was kicking their asses he said he did it to make up for all the chevys put in fords , i had a 34 chevy standard sedan once that i almost put a 302 in but decided to sell it so i could do my 40 ford the chevy was full of termite food
fords in chevys is the only way we do it around my house,i thought that was a standard, 34 chevy roadster 410 windsor,88 s10 388 windsor(pinks winner at virginia motorpsorts park 2007), and i used to have a 81 camaro that we had everything from a 302 to a 408 windsor in it. i do it just so i can watch those chevy guys cring....
A 428 is a tough motor , I think almost any engine bay would be proud to have one .... It would have to be worth it for the carpark shits and giggles alone ....
Yes that is a flathead Ford. One year at Carlisle I saw a nice early 70s Blazer with a Ford lightening drive train.
Glad to see there are still some hot rodder,s out there that don,t stick to that put a ford in a ford or chevy in a chevy or mopar in a mopar leave that to the stocker,s if you like a sbc in a ford do it the same if you like a ford in a chevy or a mopar in anything do it you sould have a ford in a ford only if thats what you like or want the same with the rest if you feel that the same make motor and body must be the same maybe you sould be playing with stockers and not hod rods this as always been a pet bitch of mine thanks for letting me vent PS I HAVE A CHEVY IN MY CHEVY CAUSE I LIKE A SBC MOTOR AND A Y-BLOCK IN MY FORD CAUSE THATS THE FORD MOTOR MOTOR I LIKE THE BEST BUT I MAY PUT A CADDY IN IT JUST CAUSE I LIKE OLD FORDALICA,S
I've got a 289 in my '57 Plymouth. There's usually a real awkward pause after I tell them. It was dirt cheap and available, unlike the Mopar alternatives. But it's always good for pissing off at least one Mopar afficianado per outing, makes it all worthwhile.
I've never put a Ford in a Chevy, That's about like dating your grandmother... If they were really that good, they would have put them back in the Fords instead of replacing them with Chevy power! Then again, I've always wanted to run a 68 Camaro on the salt with a flatty in it just for kicks. Even tho that's been done.
why? just because you can doesn't mean you should.just because it's different doesn't mean you should. to a lot of people this would bring the value of the vehicle down. kinda reminds me of a car with two front halves or rear halves put together.
