How many of you have creature comforts in your car?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by spook498, Oct 13, 2009.

  1. None ... well that's not exactly true ...

    * Heater: The lack of insulation between the carpet and the firewall keeps the toes warm!

    * A/C: Swinging the windshield open and rolling down the side & back windows provides a nice breeze.

    * Radio: I always listen to the same station ... it plays the sweet sound of a Chrysler HEMI!

    :D

C10 has air, heat, defrost, radio, wipers, power steering.
Model A has air, heat, defrost, radio, cd changer, wipers but never use them (rain-x), power brakes.
32 coupe (when done) will have power brakes...maybe.

  3. Roll-down windows and tilt windshield, no others.

I don't have any creature comforts in my Tee, I do have seat and three gauges, water temp, oil presure and volts does that count?

  7. My 40 Merc has the usual Street Rod bells and whistles. Elec front windows, cruise, AM/FM non working cassette player, I listen to the engine sing it's song a lot though, AT, heat & non working AC heat. Still has working cowl vent and window wings. I'd rather use them anyway. I drive it pretty far sometimes and take my kids and I'm 55 so a little comfy's ok. I spent 20 hard core years riding and touring on motorcycles so I know about roughing it on the road. I paid my dues.
However my RPU will be bare bones hot rod. A 4 wheeled motorcycle.

I'm 62. In the past, I've had bare bones hot rods. It's time for a little ass-pampering in my book. I have a/c, heat, defroster, nice stereo (with the power to hear it over anything!), 700r4, and power windows. I will admit that the a/c is used primarily when Momma is on board, though, I'm not above turning it on when the heat makes the seat sticky. I originally built the car with a Muncie 4 speed, but arthritis in the knees and hips brought about the automatic.

My 46 has AC/heat, cruise control, and CD player.

My T doesn't even have a top, but it does have cruise control. Sure helps keep cramps out of my legs on long trips. The cruise unit is hidden behind the dash and works directly off of the gas pedal. Longest 1 day trip in the T is 450 miles.

well, in the last year I put a roof on the cdan and side windows that roll up and down... I also have some shitty seats that are a lil uncomfortable on 4+ hour trips... I do have headlights, brakes, and my gauges work!

  13. Yeah ... but I hear you "sometimes" have to cut that nice "old body" down the middle and weld in a 10" wide strip to get it to fit "on the new frame"

My daily has no radio/CD/MP3, AC or heater, power steering, disc brakes, brake assist, auto trans, air susp, IRS or even a brody knob, just driver input/feedback and the feel, sounds and smells of the car and the road. I'm not tuff, I just like it like that.

I don't know that wipers and seatbelts are creature comforts...my cars have them for safety's sake.

But, my 40 Ford Tudor doesn't have much else...crank windows, no music, no heat or A/C, no PS...just my analog gauges and the thump of the cam.

The 55 Chevy wagon is a different story (guess I am getting old, too!)...PS, A/C (old style under dash unit), CD in the spare well, power windows and bench seat from the factory and yet another lumpy cam!

I have tried to add a girlfriend, but my wife has asked me to yank her out.

Manual Brakes, Manual Steering, No A/C, No Heater, Manual Windows. About the only creature comforts I got are a decently upholstered bench seat and a CD player (in my glovebox). That's all I want and need.

At my age (71) I have all of the creature comforts that I can possibly put into my cars, my old ass don't like hard suspensions anymore. I wanna be warm and dry and be able to move at the end of a 1000 mile day.

I have done all of that tough guy shit many many years ago when my body was a whole lot more able to put up with it.

Just wait til you see all of the creature comforts that will be in my chopped 47 Chevy 2 dr sedan.

IMO Paul, the proof that you're "Hard Core" has nothing to do with the presence or lack of creature comforts in your ride, but in the fact that you overcame such huge difficulties to have one at all.

It's a 32 roadster so there are no comforts to speak of.
No heater, no a/c, no power steering, no side curtains on my BopTop, no fenders & no wipers.
It does have a hidden stereo system but difficult to hear at highway speed.
And it does have power brakes. Forgot about that.

Getting old... these are being installed... Gary

Eaton blower with EFI, 4-spd auto w/paddle shifter, air bags all around, heat / AC / defrost, DVD with back-up TV, cup holders, cigar lighter, compass, OAT gauge, tilt wheel, 3-pt seat belts - and - 2-spd / variable wipers with WASHERs! No more stupid stops to clean the front glass! Trailer hitch.

Still, no power steering (unless it gets unbearable with my small dia. steering wheel). And hand cranked windows! And non power brakes.

  28. No pwr steering, No pwr brakes, No fucking windy wipers, No radio - could not hear it over the gear drive anyway, No heater, No A/C !
The only power is in the motor and the only creature is ME!!!!!!!!!

  30. I'm 62 my wife is 61...and me and the old lady dont want to wish we "woulda-coulda-shoulda" stuck in stuff to make driving a lot more comfortable and enjoyable AFTER the build, so during the build of our 30 A coupe...all that kinda stuff's going in there...tilt steering, fully adjustable seat, insulation in the cab and on the floor and in the doors, heat and air, and rain-x or aquapel coating on the windows, an ipod for tunes, and limo tinted glass. Been there on the hardcore way long ago...cool for its day....now its a different day for her and I.
