That aircraft doesn't look like a burned out hulk to me. There were several B-29's at China lake for several years, I think that's where the CAF got theirs.
Full House Mouse, do you suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome also?:D
Maybe a "Truther"? Because if you think a businessman would put that kind of effort out, and lose one of his best friends and companions to pull an insurance job, you have problems.

I remember two being restored to the condition to be flown out. I think the one that went to the CAF flew out in 1976, they flew another out several years later. One was towed out to the Inyokern airport in '93, it was later taken apart and shipped somewhere to be reassembled. Not sure if that one was capable of flying. I believe the hulk of the Enola Gay was one that was restored and flown out, One of them ended up at the Smithsonian. The guys that worked on those planes told stories about "strange things" that happened out in the desert while they were restoring them.

Enola Gay is in the Smithsonian, Bock's Car is at Wright Patterson at the Air force Museum. I think there's still another one close to being flown again, can't remember if its the Yankee air museum or Collins Foundation, something like that.

My memory isn't real clear on which one was which, but if I remember correctly the Enola Gay took off from China Lake around the early '80s. I was on a tracking mount taking video of it as it took off from runway 21

The last post was a Dodge with an Olds in the background not an Oakland. Thos is the Oakland touring car. Pretty rare.
